Hello All, Welcome to the first blog posting of the latest trip from Kif and Peter. Actually, Kif is not coming along this time. Instead, there is going to be a female voice in this blog in the guise of Valerie!!! Valerie and Peter are heading to South America and Antarctica for four months. They arrive in Cartagena and travel down the west coast of the continent, through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. When they are at the southern tip of Argentina, they go further south and head to Antarctica for a couple of weeks before returning to South America and travelling along the east coast to Brazil, making stops in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay before ending in Rio de Janeiro. The trip 127 days long, but that is the only way to see ... read more

Hello again, So I left it a bit of a secret of where I was off to after Palau, if you read the title already, you can see that I went to Malaysia with a quick little stop in Brunei (just to say I've been there). After spending a couple extra days in Manila I flew to Kota Kinabalu, KK as its known as. It was a nice change from manic Manila to come to a place with roughly 200,000 people. It was also my first Muslim country that I visited on this trip, and I think ever. What can I tell you? Its a nice country, nice people, and lots of pimped out cars. After a night in KK, I hopped on a night bus to Semporna. Its on the east coast of Borneo Malaysia ... read more

Now I am contemplating whether or not to write this blog or not. I mean, do I tell you, do I not? I want to tell you about this beautiful, beautiful place but I don't want to wreck its cozy and lovable feel. I mean it's still a non-commercialized, non-super-touristy place, where the locals say hello to you as you pass by and cars stop to let you cross the street. It's so beautiful half of you readers have stopped reading my blog and have breezed through the photo's. Don't deny it! I don't blame you either though. Anyways, I'll tell you a bit about my Palau adventures but you have to promise me not to ruin it. I'm going back one day to check on it so don't think I won't notice if it has ... read more

Hello blog followers. Well here Max and I are, in a new country, our last country together for our trip. Well, that's a half truth, we're meeting up in Australia later on but I got a couple of places I want to go see first. Anyways, We flew into Manila without a hitch and found a place to crash for the night. The Philippines have a heavy US influence which means we were back in the land of fast food, coffee shops (starbucks), and shopping malls. Like drones we went and watched a movie in the movie theatre. We watched the Hurt Locker for $3, it was a pretty decent flick we gotta say, thoroughly enjoyed it! We didn't want to stay in Manila since we were in the Philippines for one thing only; scuba diving! ... read more

Hello again, Firstly thanks for all the blog love I've been getting, glad you guys are liking the blog. I'm just happy to share our adventures and some pictures. Anyways, last time it was Northern Vietnam and Halong Bay that amazed us, this time it was the central coast of Vietnam. There is an open bus ticket option here in Vietnam where you choose the number of stops along the way from Hanoi to Ho Chi Min City. The price ranges in the $25-$35 range. Which would be ideal. If you knew how many stops and where you were stopping. So me and Max decided against it and just got a ticket to Hue. Hue is Vietnam's 4th largest city and has an old citadel which is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our bus was ... read more

Oh my oh my, this place is beautiful! So where did I leave off last time I wrote in this blog? Oh right, the night before getting into Vietnam. Well, we got up fine and got on our early bus out of Phnom Penh. The bus ride was about 6 hrs and the funniest part was when we hit the border. We think they like to screw around with tourists, mainly because we were the only white guys on the bus. So they took our passports when we got on the bus and when we reached the border crossing we figured they would give them back to us but no. Everyone on the bus got off, got their bags and went into a little building where the bus guy gave all our passports to the customs ... read more

Hello again! Well its been a little while since I last reminded you guys that we e still alive and traveling around Southeast Asia so I guess I should fill you in on what weve been doing. . . After our cultural binge in Siem Reap we decided to head south, way south to find some sort of sun and beach. The weather was promising heavy rain showers for the next 3 weeks but we decided to take a chance and head down to Sihanoukville. Sihanoukville is a small beach resort town on the ocean and seems to be one of the three stops most people do when traveling to Cambodia (Phnom Penh and Siem Reap the other two). Now Im sure its a beautiful place, very nice when its sunny and hot; however, we hardly ... read more

Hello again blog readers! Firstly, we are not dead! It seems though that all the areas around us are being hit hard: Vietnam (typhoon), Laos (flooding), Philippines (typhoon), Indonesia (earthquake), Samoa (earthquake), but Cambodia is doing ok. Well, we did have a little flooding... But first, we arrived in Siemreap after our super fun car ride. We got dropped off in the middle of town close to a one square block market called the old market. We settled for the first guesthouse we found, it just happened to be the best. It's called Fresh guesthouse; it had 2 beds, hot shower, tv with loads of channels and a fan for $4/person. Not bad at all. We arranged with our guest house to take us out the next day to the Beng Mealea and the Bantaey Srei ... read more

Hello again! So I guess I left the last blog off at the Bangkok internet cafe eh? Well that, as it turned out, was our little break in our trip. You see, we went back to the train station to catch a 6:40 train to Nong Khai, a mere 13 hr train ride away. But as our luck goes with Thailand transportation it ended up being 15 hrs. But it was alright, we each had our own pair of seats to curl up into a ball on and get some shut eye. There were also some very funny and entertaining people that came up to us to practice their English. There was a school teacher, that we had a good talk with right before we got off the train. From the train we took a tuktuk ... read more

Sooo, we may have lied a little to you guys in that last blog. See, it's Max and me we're talking about, we said we'ld plan for months before this trip. We got together, got distracted by this, that and everything and didn't really plan this trip. But that is almost the beauty of a trip like this, you see, we decided right after I posted the blog to wait on Cambodia and go down south in Thailand to find the beaches, and boy did we. We're on a little island called Ko Tao (turtle island) since it's an island resting on some reefs so it looks like a turtles shell. It's beautiful! It is a divers paradise and a beach goers dream come true. There are 40 dive shops here competing for the cheapest deals ... read more
