After good breakfast, best we've had so far, departed for Mostar. Stopped at border crossing to Bosnia for almost 3/4 hour while checking passports etc. Arrived Mostar about 11am when weather changed, a north wind, really strong then turned cold. Walked to the bridge through market stalls, lots of people. Bridge was very difficult to climb as it was so steep and very windy. Diving had stopped because of wind. Just started to rain so found a restaurant and stopped for lunch, nothing exciting. Didnt find the whole bridge visit that good, too crowded and cold/wet.Really just a tourist trap now. Back to bus in the rain to leave at 2.30pm. Driving around amazing to see the bullet holes still in many buildings, some still abandoned and burnt out. Long drive to Sarajevo Novotel Bristol hotel, ... read more

Up early 6am for an early morning walk. Really good as streets just cleaned and nobody around. Went up to rooftop lookout and sun just rising over the town. Walked down the alleyways to the harbourfront. Then back up to the north gate, great inside the palace, no tourists just a few like me taking photos. Back for good breakfast then walking tour of Trogir at 10am. Arrived Trogir, walked the old town which is supposed Venetian like although we all thought more like hilltop village in Italy or Provence. Lovely alleyways and small stone homes squashed up together. Ended at Church of St Laurence which just opened at 12noon, so was quite busy with tourists. Very interesting inside then Pio & Rob climbed the bell tower for fantastic view of Trogir and waterways. Looked around ... read more

After good night sleep, thanks to sleeping pills, departed 8am. Crossed the border into Bosnia, no problems at border control as mostly aussies/Nz. Stopped at roadside cafe for quick pitstop, bought apricot tea. Crossed border again into Croatia, then lunch at old mill riverside restaurant with local foods. Lovely clear river waters. Followed the coast passed beach resorts on the clear Adriatic sea with white beaches. Makarska Riviera very pretty. Arrived Split at 4pm to the new Cornaro hotel. Quick freshen up then walking tour with mikeala? Showed us the roman palace remains of Diocletius. Amazing ruins and history. Back to hotel, quick drink at cafe across the street then bed.... read more

After dinner at Magellan restaurant came home straight to bed, everybody exhausted. Rob slept well, Kelly still jetlagged. Up at 5.45am for good buffet breakfast then on the bus at 8.25am Stopped at lookout with best view of the old town Dubrovnik, absolutely postcard vistas of the town and coastline. Then down to the town for a guided tour by Ivana around the town, very busy with tourists but still so pretty. Walked the walls, very warm and crowded. Back down stopped for a cool drink then taxi back to hotel. Relax for the rest of the afternoon and will have dinner in tonight.... read more

So good of Steve & Emily to drive us in to Rydges Airport for our first night, met up with Pio and Dalyse at 8pm then quick snack. Walked over to the terminal but check in counters were closed. Back to Rydges for a night cap, shower then bed. After reasonable night sleep, although I woke up with a sore neck, different pillows. Kelly slept Ok after a bit. Both very tired, but ready & excited. Up at 4.45am to meet Pio & Dal for breakfast at 6am. Good buffet breakfast then final pack before heading over to check in at 7am. Check in was easy, unfortunately Dal couldnt upgrade as plaarded LH317, A380 and could see the difference to Qantas business class. Our seats first ones in section behind bulkhead so could be noisey.
