So good of Steve & Emily to drive us in to Rydges Airport for our first night, met up with Pio and Dalyse at 8pm then quick snack. Walked over to the terminal but check in counters were closed. Back to Rydges for a night cap, shower then bed.
After reasonable night sleep, although I woke up with a sore neck, different pillows. Kelly slept Ok after a bit. Both very tired, but ready & excited.
Up at 4.45am to meet Pio & Dal for breakfast at 6am. Good buffet breakfast then final pack before heading over to check in at 7am.
Check in was easy, unfortunately Dal couldnt upgrade as plaarded LH317, A380 and could see the difference to Qantas business class. Our seats first ones in section behind bulkhead so could be noisey. Big difference was seat configuration also staff not quite as welcoming. Food was also dissapointing. Night flight so maybe we'll have a sleep.
Night went pretty fast although not much sleep was had. Arrived 5am Munich then usual long walk to the departure lounges. After signing in (Dal had to pay €29 extra) quick cuppa then lovely showers had by all. Met up with fellow travellers,
from Dural & Tassie. Now we have 9hr layover in the lounge.arded LH317, A380 and could see the difference to Qantas business class. Our seats first ones in section behind bulkhead so could be noisey. Expess run through immigration and security, so easy. Upstairs to business lounge which is fairly full but everything laid on, breakfast, drinks, seems like another world to just relax.
Boarded plane, so quick and easy. Our seats 2e & 2f, lower deck right at front of plane. 747-400 jumbo. Pio behind us in 3e. Dal in row 61.
So much cabin room, so much leg room. AMAZING!!
Take off at 11.10am, little late. Flight time 8hr 45mins.
Writing this whilst having lunch, best food we've
ever had on a plane. Keep having to look out windows to see that we are actually flying! Are we really flying at 36000ft in the air or in a luxury hotel? Business class really is another world. Wine is flowing, Jamison, cheese and biscuits, good food, real coffee. Unbelievable! I might even get a sleep.
I think the days of economy travel have gone.
On the next leg, wonder if Lufthansa can be as good? Will HK lounge be so good?
Arrived HK now waiting in lounge for next leg. 5+ hour layover.
