Wow what an exceptionally humid night - the air conditioning seems to be struggling to keep up with the temperature so it was not easy to sleep, however once again at 3.00am both Andy and I were in the wide awake club. Andy got up and made a cup of tea, then wrote the blog for yesterday. By 4.00 we were trying to get back to sleep. I do not remember the jet lag being this bad last time we were here. Finally getting back to sleep we overslept again and awoke at 9.30, we both dozed for a while however needed to get up as I had an 11.00 appointment for my ear candling (Hopi). If it makes any of you feel any better we awoke to a crack of thunder and the sound of ... read more

We awoke at 3.21 am as we were in the wide awake club, an electric storm was illuminating the sky which was spectacular, but no rain. When we ventured outside from our air condition bed room, the humidity and heat at this time in the morning hit you like a comedy frying pan in the face. An hour later came the rain, and boy does it rain. We dozed off to sleep at around 6.00 am, and re awoke at 10.30. We set off in to Singapore for breakfast, (thank god for Starbucks) and had the pleasure of engaging in to conversation with a Singaporean Guy (Jackson Teo 26) who had lived in California for 12 years and had come back to Singapore to complete his PhD. We talked and talked for two (2) hours about ... read more

As we are trying to keep daily events together and you will be reading this in snapshots this is a continuation of day 1. We had around 3 hours sleep, then woke at around 3.00pm (STP) Singapore time. Stumbled around for ½ an hour, then we showered, and shaved, well I did. (Andy) It seemed quite bizarre that we went out and got a pool side bed, had a club sandwich and a cup of tea, then a swim. The temperature is around 27 degrees C, quite sunny and extremely humid. We ventured out in the evening, and only just trotted around for a while, had a coffee in Starbucks and did some people watching. As we were walking we saw some people who were sitting and had their feet dangling in to a tank of ... read more

Hi all, its 1.58 am British Time, and we got to the Marina Mandarin Hotel about 20 minutes ago, so door to door from Romsey was 19 1/2 Hours. The flight was good, the Airbus A380 was just fantastic, I believe Singapore Airlines was the first airline in the world to take delivery of such a beast, and now they have 6 in the fleet. Compared to 747 (Jumbo) is just looks larger, a 747 can seat 375, and the 380 can seat 471, in the configuration, of economy, Business, and Premier (Suites), though overall it is advertised that it is capable of seating 800 people. The cabin crew are beautifly dressed in a type of Sarong and the food was excellent, with proper cutlery which was nice. When we got off the plane, it was ... read more

... The last couple of weeks have been fairly emotional as we have been going around saying goodby to family and friends, it has not been an easy journey, but we do consider ourselves lucky to have so many to say our farewells to...... The long awaited day has finally dawned, almost 2 years in the planning and we are here in Departures at Heathrow Terminal 3 awaiting our 10.55 flight to Singapore.... Andy is crashed out on the floor so I am using him to rest my legs as I type up the blog. Today we fly on the new A380. It was not a plane that I am particularly enamoured abou flying on - we have yet to see it but I am pretty sure it is HUGE. We are on the upper deck ... read more

Hi All, I am delighted that people are starting to put messages and generally interact with the Kangaroojack. (He says Gooday!) Well just to up date you lovely people, what has been happening over the last couple of weeks, we left the house in a flurry, and considering Caroline working her arse off packing at least 6 weeks before we left and we were still up to the wire when we vacated the house, to let our new tenants in. Strangly enough, we thought leaving the house would be far more emotional than it was, we just left then arrived at our new digs in Romsey at Pauncefoot House. We have now been staying with Len and Sarah Dupont since the 24th Of October and though strange not being in our own home, we thought it ... read more

I'm awake now, we have been back to the house to collect the 2nd load of gear and there was much activity at the house, the new tenants seem to be getting on top of things. I feel like a grenade has gone off in my head space, and feel so out of sorts. When we left the house today I didn't really feel any emotion, which suprised me and its nice to be back with Len and Sarah at Pauncefoot house, even though it will only be for a short while. Today I am missing my beloved KTM, all the boys I regularly rode with are in Normandy, "Off Roading" we have both made many sacrifices for this adventure, I am sure with will both gain so much out of it. Onwards we march. Andy ... read more

Well, today is the day that we finally moved out of our house in Chandlers Ford, it has been a long time in the planning, yet all of a sudden it seemed to be upon us and the pressure was on to vacate and allow our tenants to move in. Although we had done a lot of packing, throwing away and selling in the previous months I was still shocked about how much we had left to do in the last couple of days, not to mention making sure that the house was perfectly clean for our tenants to move into. I even washed the towels and hung them on the washing line. Last night, Dad took the family out for a meal at the Balmoral (Nursling), it has been exceptionally difficult to get everyone together because ... read more

Hi Bloggers, Its my birthday today, 45 years old, but still feeling like i'm 16. My last day at work yesterday, and I tried to slip away, as quitely as possible, without any fuss or bother. This morning we were cleaning the kitchen, you know emptying the cupboards to clean them out and throwing away packets of Angel delight best before April 1996 and so on Nesquick that was just a solid block. My fantastic niece and nephew and my sister phoned me early to sing happy birthday down the phone, it was great. Caroline's mum and dad came over with dinner and Caroline set up their web cam. Friday looms and we have to leave our house, an emotional time it will be. Flying 2 weeks Friday. Laters. Andy ... read more
