South America » Bolivia March 21st 2011

A very beautiful country but it is hard to travel. The road to and from Tupiza is unpaved, dangeorus and pumping all the way. We souldn’t take that risk to travel from Tupiza tu Uyuni at night. The bus went through slided roads and passed rivers without bridge. Very late at night we arrived at Uyuni. We could hardly find two beds to sleep after knocking many hostels. With three hour sleep we arranged a tour to Salar de Uyuni, six on a 4 wheel drive Toyota. Six of us became close friends with each other in hours. We had an exellent tour for three days. Above 4200 mt we drove on desert without any road for hours. We enjoyed the salt flat you will feel on the pictures, visited salt hotel, train cemetery, many small ... read more

We had city tour on an open sightseeing bus. We enjoyed our dinners at Dona Salta Rest. The food was delicious and cheap. After two nights we moved to Purmamarca by the early bus. In Purmamarca one can feel the real South America culture and we took the photos of seven coloured mountain pieces. At this village we bought some soveniers. South America » Argentina » Buenos Aires » Buenos Aires March 10th 2011

We stayed at Buenos Aires almost a week. We tried to visit important attractions of the city. One day we took a city tour bus which gives only a general idea for the city. We then visited Palermo, Ricoleta, coloful La Boca, Shopping area Alvear , Puerto Madera ( old harbour), Sundey Market at San Thelmo, seperately. Our hostel, Che Lagarto is one of the best place to stay for budget travellers, friendly and helpful management. We enjoyed dinners at several famous restaurants specially at San Thelmo. We used to have dinner at around 7 PM in our country and we had difficulty at BA because they almost don’t serve before 9 PM. We feel sleepy at dinners. Living in Buenos Aires is easy. There are wide avenues and streets supported with five direction subway. People ... read more

Landing the Foz de Iguacu (Brazilian side) airport we were furnished with full information to follow up our trip at the National Park (NP). In five minutes we took the bus to the gate of the NP. We got a safe box for 8 reals. The size of the locker is for one standard luggage plus a small hand bag. Paying the entrance fare 75 reals for two, we took the free NP bus to the observation area. It is really breathtaking, the words and pictures can not describe the effect of this natural phenomena. Having lunch at NP we hiked for a while and then left the NP fort he city center where we took the other bus to Argentina. Passing the border is no problem. Argentina side is much quicker at paper work (three ... read more

South America » Brazil » Bahia » Morro de São Paulo February 28th 2011

We visited Morro de Sao Paulo for only two days. Enjoyed the Island hoping. We spent most of our time in the first day at Gamboa Beach which is the best for us. The other four beaches we wisited the second day were not as attractive as Gamboa. On the first, second , third and fourth beaches one could hardly swim, only may get wet. But on all four beaches there is a vivid social life . We had lunch on the first beach cheap fried fish. And the last night we had dinner at a place with live music. When we were back at Salvador for our flight to Iguazu Falls we had a attended a very beautiful pre-carnival party at our hostel, Che Lagarto. We are flying to Iguazu/ Brazil via Sao Paulo tonight ... read more

South America » Brazil » Bahia » Salvador February 25th 2011

The city was the capital of Brazil for centuries. In 16th century it was the port disembarging African slaves. When Rio developed all the rich immigrate to Rio de Janeiro making the city the second capital. Actually today the capital is Brazil. When people migrate Salvador was left with rich buildings and churches to their destiny. The city is a world herritage. Because of the slaves African culture is dominating. We stayed at Che Lagarto Hostel on Barra Beach . Which is 10 minutes drive to the historic center- Pelourinho. One of the best place in Salvador to stay. The hostel makes necessary activities, parties and group tours. The city is one of the most unsafe, dangerous one. When the sun goes down, we are recommended not to go out. We are lucky that we ... read more

Arriving at Cebu we took a taxi to boat port to Tangbilaran, then by a shared van we reached to Alona Beach at Panglao Island which is tight by a bridge to Bohol Island. We had difficulty finding a hotel because of their holly holiday. At last we stayed at Alonaland Resort (1600 PHP) walking distance to the beach. The first day we took the Bohol tour from the resort and we really enjoyed. We visited Loboc River and had lunch on the boat, we saw one of the oldest church at Tagbilaran, we spent some time by the special animals of Bohol. Lastly we climbed a hill and took pictures of Choclate Hills. Second day we visited Dumaluan Beach and felt ourselves as if in Maldives, specially at Bohol Beach Club Resort. Asia » Philippines » Mindanao » Davao April 2nd 2010

We spent a night at Iloilo city, one of the most developed area in Philippines. By morning flight we went to Davao, quiet boring city. Our hotel ‘My Hotel’ is at a busy street and the day never ends as if they were working, shopping, eating in three shifts. We had difficulty in sleeping. The first day we visited several shopping centers and spent most of our time at Victoria Plaza for purhasing pearls. This place may be an attractive area for pearls. One should feel that the sellers don’t cheet you. They are so honest and you can bargain to a very small amount. The second they we visited Samal Island (Paradise Island region) . We snorkelled at the corals and ate lunch by the sea. The next day we took a three hours bus ... read more

Asia » Philippines » Boracay March 27th 2010

Totally speaking Boracay is one of the wonders of the world for vacation. The climate, the sea, the beach, accomodation, entertainment, dining and wining, reasonable prices make this wonderland. The Alice in Wonderland Resort, about 200 meters away from the beach, fully satisfied us ( 1960 PHP/night with free full access internet in the room). Usually we had our breakfast at the balcony of our bungalow. For lunches we often went to wet market ( D’talipapa) where they sell fresh seafood. There are restaurants surrounding the wet market that cook the seafood we bought; 1500-2500 PHP/kilo lobster, 400 PHP/kilo fish, 400-1000 PHP/kilo prawns according to their sizes, 1200 PHP/kilo crab. We spent sun set time usually on the beach at Nigi Nigi and we dined there. Before breakfast we made our beachwalk about one hour ... read more
