George’s sister and her husband visited today and took away the last of the boxes that she will be storing for us. We all went to lunch and a small shopping trip into Southall where George used to work. Spent some good quality time together, but it was time to say goodbye all too soon. The big clear up is progressing with avengance. Booked the ferry from Cadiz to Tenerife today. Left it a little late so no double cabins left. Booked into a quadruple cabin instead. Bit more space for us for the 2 day journey. Picked up 5000 Euros from the post office today. Decided it was too difficult to tell the credit cards and banks what days we would be arriving in each country, so will be spending cash only from when we leave UK to when we arrive in Tenerife. ... read more

Booked the first of two ferry tickets. Booked from Portsmouth to Caen in France (6 hour sailing) for the afternoon of 22nd March. We will have to get everything ready by the end of Monday to be able to get there on time. A tight deadline, but we can do it. We are both getting a little stressed with the work left to do, but ultimately know it is achievable. Cannot wait to go now. ... read more

Good news in the post today. Got the DVLA log book for the new car. Means we can now book the ferries for our trip to Tenerife. House really looking pretty empty now. We sold Theresa’s bike this morning. We have also sold the bed and TV, but they will not be picked up until next weekend. The 3 piece suite went at Christmas but this morning we sold the sofa bed that we have been sitting on since. Luckily, we have been able to borrow a couple of chairs to sit on for the next week or so. Maybe someone is telling us we haven’t got time to sit down and relax. It certainly feels like it. Have a small leaving do tonight. Made everything feel very real. Big accident on the M40 caused a few of our guests not to make it or to be very late, but we think a good time was had by all. Our new little arrival

Eventually picked up the new car today. It is as nice as we were expecting. Drove home only to find that we had left the house keys in the old car, so had to make another visit to the garage to pick them up. We have the new wheels now, but unfortunately cannot book anything for our departure until the DVLA log book turns up. Garage estimates this could take up to 3 weeks. We are hoping it will not, as we cannot leave without it. Ebay is hoting up now. The house is looking rather empty ... read more

We have, probably daftly, volunteered to clear the garage at my father’s house. We meet him there this morning and there is far more there than we first thought.
