This is life! What a great way to see America! A good reminder that there's more to life than working and sometimes it's just nice to take a break from the monotony. Enjoy the journey cuz! xo
Travel tip or two Hi Emy - sounds like you are having a great time and the big rivers are amazing. While we have not cruised the big U.S. rivers, we have camped alongside enough of them to know that they are truly majestic (unless you end up with a downpour and flooding!). For a minute reading your blog, I thought your alcohol "stash" slipped on the country - whew - thank heavens it was only a stove!!! If you buy the cheap no-slip counter/cupboard stuff you can keep your counter things from sliding off. And, it is cheap so you can just throw away a piece when it becomes too dirty to use again. Love the blog!
Thanks for the tips Great idea, i know exactly the stuff you mean. Now that we are in the river system, shouldn't have too many problems. But will be useful once we are down in the gulf and beyond :)
Good times Learn how to fish on this trip, boy. We might meet up with you down in the keys if I can get some interest in the boat again. Reading this blog, I actually thought it might be a good idea to go down to the marina and see if my Abigail is still floating. 600 nm in a week is quite a pace. Abby and I did 731 miles in 8 and I was wore out. Emy, eat a green apple when you feel like shit. I read that it helps. Have funa nd don't get scurvy.
Good times indeed Fishing...dont know what thay is, i just do catching! Definitely you should go check out your abigail, and get her ready to go. Otherwise we will have to make the 10 day trek to see you. Do you have your material for your davots ready?
Emy will pick up some apples.

Safe Travels What an adventure you are on! I'm very excited for you and wish you a safe and enjoyable journey! Hope you get your sea legs soon and feel better. Am enjoying reading all your blogs! Xo
Wow! Every time you share an other instalment in your journey I can't wait to read it. I am inspired by your adventure. I want to tell everyone I actually know someone who is on such brave journey. I feel cooler just because I worked with you over a decade ago.
Thank you for the map showing your route. I pictured you going east to the Atlantic and down. But I know nothing of geography and less of boats.
I am curious, why this trip, why now?
Why now? Good question! I guess the biggest reasons at first were Marina finished high school last year, and is moving out on own journey now, and i finished school in December. One of my goals when I finished school was to work with children who have been through trauma or are impoverished. My best friend and sweetheart, Lukus, built the boat 7 years ago and had always wanted to take it on a long voyage. Since i wasnt involved in anything yet and he was able to get a.sabbatical from teaching, seemed like the right time. Kind of a step.of faith and a chance to discover my next chapter of life.
Aww...Janice Thanks so much. I am so happy if even one person finds some enjoyment in my ramblings. And i know from working together, you ARE cool!! Hope all is well.with you :)
YOU REALLY ARE DOING IT Congratulations on your departure. Your Port Stanley visit is close to my old stompin grounds. I hope the hurricane leaves you alone and it should. As always we anxiously await your next entry. Fair winds and following seas. Tom
Yes we are!! No sign of hurricanes yet...but we've had some big ships coming up our stern! Just past Detroit, and into the open waters of Lake Huron now :) We will post some pics on our blog. thanks Tom!
We're all sending you our love!!! Safe travels!!
Mom said plain potato chips is supposed to be good for boat/water sickness. Let me know if that works. Have fun & be safe xx

Sailing with the Blues Sorry that you experienced motion sickness; some things never change. Glad that your tummy settled with the smoother waters. Picturing you on that boat, enjoying the beautiful waters. We are sharing with our Japanese friends, who get envious of your adventure.
Green with envy You two are off on the trip of a lifetime. Enjoy every minute as each of them will last a lifetime. I intend to follow your odyssey through your blog.
Whete I Grew Up Having grown up in the Caribbean, I would love to be included in your blog mailing. May you have safety in your travels and fulfilment in your charitable efforts. Mostly, I trust you and Lukus will have fresh experiences of the Living Christ at sea and on land.
