hola marco hope you're enjoying the city. just a couple of things. the "angel" is actually the virgin mary. the language is "castellano". the term is used in south america interchangably with "español", however in spain the term español is preferred, as castellano refers specifically to the language as it is spoken in the north-central region known as castilla (their "dialect", which they consider the "purest" spanish). last, santiago has very few colonial buildings, mainly due to earthquakes and a chilean propensity to tear down the old and build things anew (thankfully, that mentality is changing). la casa roja and it's neighborhood of barrio brasil are NOT colonial, not even close. most of those buildings were built at the earliest in the late 1800's and mostly in the first 3 decades of the 20th century, since that was the area where most of the middle and upper classes lived before moving east to areas like providencia and las condes. cheers, and have an empanada for me!

Eh up lad Man south america is ace. More random than a barrel of frogs in a plane! Thats pretty dam random. And they love football! Like if they had to choose between not playing football or selling their granny, they'd pack granny;s suitcase and ask you where you'd like her dropped off. Winner

sounds good... oh my lovely Claire,
I'm sitting in good old (and rainy) Germany, dreaming of hot chocolate and a relaxed lifestyle. I wish I could get on a plane and enjoy Argentina for a month or so while some nice person finds a wonderful and extraordinarily cheap flat for me in Marburg where I have to move to in three weeks. I'm really glad to hear you're doing so fine and enjoy your new adventure.
Lots of love from your daydreamin' Helen

By the way, Happy Birthday for the 23rd Marc.
Hailing from the sunny village of Coventry, England, 23 year old Marc & Claire hatched a cunning plan in the summer of 2004. Twas plan so cunning in fact you could literally brush your teeth with it: To conquer the world via the medium of travel! It then took about a year to actually do anything about organising it (boo to the "o" word), but now Leeds uni maths graduate Marc, and Swansea uni geography graduate Claire, ask you to come hither to their blog of comedy events through India, Asia and finally New Zealand. We salute your coming to visit our photos and anecdotes. In addition this blog ... full info
