Welcome to the road trip of a life time! On the afternoon of the 15 Corey and I decided that we were fed of of the city and needed to see the rest of Malaysia. We rented a car for eight days and planned our route that night..well kinda. In the morning we went to get some breakfast at 7:30am and pick up some maps. To our suprise no one gets an early start on the day and we had to wait till 10am till a shop opened to pick one up. Finally at 10:30am we were on the road..again, kind of. Leaving K.L is not as easy at one would think. The street names merge into other ones and one road becomes another without warning. After some frustrating stares at the map, a nervouse laugh ... read more

Hello All! and welcome to the massive city Kuala Lumpur, ofr as us locals call it K.L. The cith here is truley the city that never sleeps. There is constant teaffic running 24/7 with the street littered with wandering ppl. All in all it was a huge change from our little islands in Indonesia. The first order of buisness when we arrived was to view Malaysia's pride and joy the Petronas Twin Towers, and the KL tower. On our first night we ventured off to the KL tower with a fellow Canadian. Apparently the best view of the Petronas towers at night was from the KL tower and they were right! The view was amazing! The KL tower had a direct view of the Petronas towers from about 3km away. Unfortunatly I was unable to take ... read more

Hello From Singapore! This was the fastest stop so far. Corey and I arrived in Singapore at 1:30am and decided that we would sleep in the airport insted of looking for a place to sleep in the city. We found the most comfortable chairs and crashed. We were woken up by some guy that made us move all our stuff off the rug so he could vacume at 3!??? What the ..nevermind. He turned out to just sweep the floor and accomlish nothing. At 8 we hit the MRT and checked in at the YMCA. We walked down to the waterfront and checked out the escalanda theater and statue. From there we headed over to a small island off the south east coast and caught a cable car over. Ride was sweet and super high. We could ... read more

Hello Everyone! Travel has been extensive and internet not redally avaliable all the time. Here is a quick update from Indonesia. After spending some time in the Gili Islands corey and I decided to go back to Bali and head to Nusa Lombongon, a small island south east of Bali. As we pulled into Mataryam, the capital of Lombok, we hooked up with one of our fellow Canadians, and with one minute to departure back to Bali, we changed our ticket to Kuta, Lombok! Best decision ever! Kuta, Lombok is a hidden surf spot that draws hundreds of surfers in the high season; but thankfully for us it was still the low. This place has around 15 surf spots all within a 30min scooter ride! We rolled into town and heded right for the ocean. A ... read more

I had heard of these magical islands off the North West coast of Lombok called the Gili Islands. This string of islands boast some of the best diving, snorkling, and hammock recreation around Bali and Lombok. We chartered a shuttle to take us from Lovina, Bali to the Gili islands to put our new PADI certificates to use. Golo and Ingred, our German friends, saw a golden oppertunity and tagged along. Our first day on gili Air was breathtaking. Our bungallo was 20 meters from the beach which boasted a 2km reef 20 meters from the beach. White sand, hammocks and a bar that played Jack Johnson all day, there wasn't anything more we could ask for. For the next few days we snorkled in the morning, watched a movie with lunch and snorkled in the ... read more

After spending a few days inland Corey and I got restless for the ocean and headed up to Lovina, a small town on the North East side of Bali. There we decided that we would get our PADI diving certification. We breezed through our confined dives and the next day cruised up to the Menjangen Islands for our first two open water dives. On the first dive we drifted along to top of a wall and over some coral, but the next dive we descended to 16m down the wall and saw all sorts of fish and coral; including fan coral and many Angle, Grouper and Clown fish. The next day we headed to the other side of the island to Tulamben; where a huge cargo ship lies on the bottom of the ocean, shot down ... read more

Welcome to the first real entry on the blog! Sorry for the delay, sickness kept me confined to the room for a few days. Any ways lets begin... We arrived in Denpasar on the 11th of Jan at around 11:15 tired and jetlagged. Total time awake alomst 30 hours. When we arrived we were under the influence that we would be issued a 60 day visa without charge. To our suprise we had to pay 25 US and it was stamped and underlined NO Extention. WEll now we know! From there we played "rip off the new tourist" many times. Once for the cab, once for the porter and again for the internet. I guess that is the price you pay for looking so white. On our first day in Kuta, Corey and I were pretty ... read more

All that was left was a jet stream For the last 4 years I have been stuck in school dreaming of the surf and the sand, and now I have a chance to live the dream. I am off to Southeast asia with a good friend to hit the beaches and explore a very interesting part of the world. I am looking forward to posting many pictures and updating the page as much as possible. Had a great christmas with teh family and got to see many friends. There was tones of snow up here this year which was awsome, but the ski hill lift broke and I got no riding in. Boooo! Though I did get to ride some sweet sleds..yeah Mountain Cat 800 twin.
