Asia » Philippines » Boracay May 6th 2007

Quick change of plans, When I arrived in Bangkok, the weather in Thailand was rainy and overcast. I was planning on hitting the beach for the last 2 weeks of my vacation, but here was not the spot to do. I remembered a guy we met say that the Philippines was very nice; so I checked the net and booked myself a ticket return for under 300. Great price! I was off the next morning! If you weren’t informed, Philippines is having there elections on the 14th. This year is supposedly a quite on with little violence and protests. But it was hard to miss when I got off the plane. I waited 20 min in my cab while a mile long protest took up the entire street. While on the 10th one of the ... read more

Asia May 2nd 2007

As my trip is coming to an end I decided that to save money I would take the bus back to Bangok instead of flying. like my German friends. I left Ho Chi Min City at 7 am and arrived in Phnom Phen at 1:30pm. After a short layover I got on a different bus and drove another 6 hours to Siem Reap. I totaled 637 km in roughly 12 hours. This trip took a lot out of me so I was thinking that I would take it easy that night. Not so much. I met a woman from China that was on vacation for a week on my bus. We headed into town to eat dinner and have a drink. I later found myself drunk walking home. When we got to our road I ... read more

Asia » Vietnam » Southeast » Ho Chi Minh City April 25th 2007

Good Morning Viet Nam!! Ho Chi Min City is a massive place with a population of 11.5 million ppl. Unfortunatly it is the only stop that I will be making in Vietnam because my visa runs out on the 5th of May. Ohh well there were many good times had here! The majority of the trip was spent in suit shops, markets and of course my wonderful a/c room with T.V. and a fridge for the beers. I purchased 2 dinner/ sport jackets, a full suit and 3 shirts that came with a tie! My purchases also included 30 DVD's 6 box sets of T.V. series and shirts. I had a blast bargining with the ladies and hitting the small eateries along the way. I visited the war museum and the old Communist building of ... read more

TravelTravelJordan Clark Welcome to the largest religious temple in the world, Angkor Wat. Greetings all! Don’t forget there are many pics so there is more than one page to view, enjoy! It has been a very busy last couple of days here in Siem Reap. I have toured the temples of Angkor and a temple tucked away in the jungle, overgrown with nature. I stayed at the best guesthouse in Siem Reap, Prince Makong Villa, run by a Swiss guy. The rooms were 4 dollars a night, which included: free breakfast, first laundry, free water, use of the kitchen (if you wished), free use of a bike whenever you wanted and your first beer was Free! When we arrived he only had one room left; so he gave up his own personal room top me! It ... read more

Asia » Laos April 8th 2007

Welcome back! I am currently in Pakse, southern Laos, and catching up on a number of places throughout the travels. Due to the nomadic nature of the trip I have had little time to sit and write or a lack of internet/ electricity! I will start off in Northern Laos in Luang Prabang and work my way south to Don Det. Elephants!! The day before I was supposed to go on my elephant trek I ate some bad food and became deathly sick. Spent the whole day in bed or lying on the bathroom floor waiting to see which end I would need to direct towards the toilet! Yuck! After picking up some drugs from a local pharmacist, I felt well enough to keep my lunch down and head out to the elephant camp. Our ... read more

Asia » Laos » West » Vang Vieng March 30th 2007

Laos is located North of Thailand between Myanmar and Vietnam. The most outrageous thing about Laos, is that a visa for a Canadian citizen to get into the counrty is 42 USD!! There, at the top of the list of the visa office, sits Canada. It puzzled me why this was since the chart on the wall told me that my German friends only had to pay 40 USD. The odd explanation that the visa officer could come up with was, that this was the price that it cost Laos ppl to enter Canada! Bizarre!! We left the sleepy capital of merely 200,000 thousand, Vientian, for the small village of Vang Vieng. Our bungalow was close to the river with a clean bathroom and hot water for 4 dollars. We found a way to crack ... read more

Welcome All!! Soo good to be back! It has been an interesting journey so far through Phuket's Patong Beach and Phi Phi. Met some new friends, snorkeled many new spots and logged some amazing dives! Patong Beach Patong beach is proably the most touristy area in Thailand. This place is like going to LAs Vegas but on speed! The pace of Patong is the same as on a F-1 race car track, which is easy to get caught up in. The part doesn't start till late and by the time you realize what time it is, yor watch says 4:00am. This is the perect time for Corey and I to get a bit and watch the local wildlife drag home fresh meat. On any occasion you will see overweight middel aged men walking around with ... read more

Asia » Thailand » South-West Thailand » Ko Tao March 6th 2007

Welcome to Koh Tao, the most beautiful island I have ever seen! Koh Tao is the smallest island in the string of Koh's off the South East gulf of Thailand. We were a little worried on the way over to the island because our jetty was filled with ppl all going to the same destination. We chose a small bay on the South East side of the island that had three resorts. Our ride there was very bumpy in the back of a pick-up, since there are very few paved roads on the island. Let me rephrase that, there is a strip of paved road about 1km long. The rest of the island has to be reached by 4x4 truck. Our first destination was Ao Leuk bay. The three resorts turned out to be all small ... read more

Hello All, and welcome to the craziest party in the world! There was a full moon coming up the 3rd of March in Ko Phangan and decided that we needed to check out and see what all the fuss was about. It turned out to be everyting that It is hyped up to be. Our hotel was amazing with the first splurge of the trip on accomidation. Our resort had an amazing pool that people from all over the island came to swim and bath in the sun. The view from my bungallow was spectacular. I watched 6 out of the 8 sunsets from my deck. The place was just packed with people. After a couple of days of sitting around I decided that I needed to get away from the pool. I thumbed through a ... read more
