Travels Joyce. Just read all your travel stories in one go as I'm missing you and Margaret and feel I've been tagging along on the trip as your writing is so funny and immediate and paints such a great series of pictures of the extra-ordinary places you have seen. Keep it up. This is wonderful! Good wishes for continuing happy travel times. Hilary
Great guns. Just caught up with your adventures after a couple of weeks in London off-line. Hope Steve's 'flu is getting better and that more sympathy is flowing in from bloggers. I said it was just like following your holiday scrapbooks that byou used to show me - but in motion. Look forward to the next episodes. Take care Iain
Good to hear from you Iain. Hope all went well with your brother and that Margaret is improving. We're gradually recovering from the cold bug so hope to be back to full health soon. Jx
Tuk Tuk! Thank you so much for your sympathy re Poppy, I'm finding it really difficult and just missing her so much, I know you know exactly how it feels. By the sounds of things you are risking all sorts of lurgy to get your daily dose of dog! The Tuk Tuk journey sounds the height of comfort! You really excelled yourselves there, bet you can't wait to repeat that! Joking aside, the photo's are fab and you are having a holiday of a lifetime, and your blog is so worthwhile, not only is it great for you for years to come, but it is so very interesting and entertaining for those of us who are reading it! Please do not stop! Hope Steve soon feels better, lots of love, Cina, xx
Weight issues I can just imagine Steve telling you to watch the weight! I can imagine you mooching around the markets, not to mention petting all sorts of dogs, cats and other animals. All looking well so far, pics look fabulous.
Hello You guys seem to be thoroughly enjoying yourselves. It has taken me a little while to get onto the blog but all cracked now. You picked the best time to do it, it's cold over here. Looking forward to keeping up with you, love John & Kate xx
Hello to you two Glad you've worked your way through the mysteries of blogs - it's all a bit strange to me too! Getting there - though not necessarily by the best route! No matter. Good to hear from you and hope all is well. Glad not to be in the cold now - we've just had to come inside because it's too darn hot!! Jx
The Intrepid Travellers! Wow! How amazing are you two? What an incredible journey you are having, I've just caught up with your blogs, it's like reading an adventure story! You are such a good writer, l can't wait for the next instalment! Hope you continue to have an amazing time, enjoy yourselves, keep safe, lots of love, Cina, xxx
Sabaidee! That's Lao for 'hi' and is as much as I've picked up. Glad you've enjoyed the blog so far - I'm never sure if it might be a bit boring but I'm writing it as much as a reminder for myself in years to come as anything else. So sorry to hear about Poppy. She had a good life and was well travelled herself! I'm risking fleas, ticks and probably rabies and other horrors just to get my dog fix at the moment! Jx
Just proves my point! I quite enjoyed Bangkok 10 years ago. Nowhere is ever the same/as good on a revisit - the places change and so do we I suppose. It's the way of things. Bangkok is such a useful travel hub though. A bit like the Amsterdam of Asia. You can go anywhere from there ..... Jx
Great to hear your news. I did wonder when I read your itinerary why you were getting the bus to Heathrow instead of the tube. I thought you must have been trying to use as many different modes of transport as you could before leaving the UK! After reading your comments about Bangkok, I think it's moved down my list of places to go! Look forward to hearing about Laos soon.
Janet and I had a lovely meal last night at the Fox and Coney. Sausages were on the menu so you missed out there!
The Bandit's still with us - hasn't been out of the house for a month! Luckily Leo and Misty are starting to tolerate him.

Duh! No, it was just us being stupid! It was a good lesson on learning just to shrug our shoulders and giggle about events though. I'm sure Bangkok has some redeeming features, we just couldn't find them. Glad to hear about The Bandit and the sausages! Good to hear from you and hope all is well. Jx
Hi you are not going to believe this but I have sent two other messages to you. Feeling quite proud of myself for remembering how to do it pity I didn't wait for "submitted". Daniel Odonnel is out of strictly yippee didn't think that would happen. Please ignore all grammatical mistakes not used to composing these days. On Sunday I wondered whose turn it was to ring - old habits die hard, Can you please mention in your next blog if you got this message. Bye for now xxx
Typhoon Traffic jams in York may not be the only hazard on a journey around the world. Are you in any danger from the massive TYPHOON that is currently battering the Philippines? It will have to cross Vietnam and Cambodia to reach you in Thailand, but if you're heading east from Bangkok it might be laying in wait for you. Typhoons and aeroplanes don't sound like a good mix.
It never rains Hi Jim, Thanks for that - I hadn't heard. We've moved on into Laos but still the same general area I suppose. There's just been a downpour here and I hope it was just that and not the prelude to something worse! We're not back in the air again for another week or so and I hope the typhoon has gone away by then (what's the lifespan of a typhoon??). Steve currently in bed with a stinky cold - we're blaming all the recirculated germs on the plane. I've learned that you can buy just about any medication from the nice street lady operating out of a shack down the road, no prescription required ;-)
One step at a time Hi Joyce and Steve. Glad that you made the train in UK and have now become enthusiastic big Airbus travellers. I hope all is still going well and look forward to seeing all the photos of a 380. You haven't missed much in Dubai - a huge un-natural creation surrounded by acres of desert and oil wells. It now begins to get exciting. Looking forward to the next episodes. Iain
Dubai, or not Dubai Hi Iain
Good to hear your views on Dubai. We seriously dithered about stopping off there for a couple of days and decided against it in the end. Joyce x
In 2015 we took ourselves off on a long-anticipated six month trip around the world. It was a once in a lifetime trip to mark our retirement and fulfil the 'gap year' we never had in our youth. We had a wonderful time. In fact, it was so good that we thought there should be a sequel in 2018. So, twice in a lifetime then (but a bit shorter)....!... full info
