Maasai Mara
What a wonderful place for your final safari, the Maasai Mara! I'm sorry that you didn't get to see a leopard, but a good message there I think - to be happy with and grateful for what one does see ? It seems as though you've had an amazing time on safari in Kenya, so many great memories and experiences ?

Maasai Mara
We did have such an amazing time in Kenya, thanks Alex! And our safari camp in the Maasai Mara was my favourite, it was just superb.

Cheetahs!
Yay, well done! I'm so glad to read you got to see cheetahs! What a stunning camp you stayed at, I love the Indiana Jones rope bridge to get there! ? And the food on your journey so far sounds amazing! I try not to watch the road ahead when travelling in such countries, the amount of overtaking and pulling in at the last minute is not good for my nervous system, lol!

Lake Naivasha
Wow, some lovely wildlife photos here Lori ? And great that you were able to see hippos too! I've just seen your Facebook videos of the matchstick going down the hole, amazing! I remember staying in a camp in Zambia, where you needed an escort after dark - a bit unnerving!

Northern White Rhinos
Wow, I'm so amazed you were able to see Nanjin and Fatu. I recently watched a documentary on the plight of the Northern White Rhinos. How lovely you were able to see them, but how sad the story is. I was very interested to read your words about the efforts to breed through a surrogate Southern White Rhino. I do hope they have success there, that would be amazing. I think I would have the same reaction with the spider in the bed...!

Northern White Rhinos
It was such a privilege to see these last two northern white rhinos, and yes, it is so very sad. I'm so hoping their efforts at a surrogate pregnancy are successful.

Rhinos
Indeed, the rhino story is very sad. I imagine the gravesite and memorial would have been very moving. So lovely to see from your photos that you were able to see some of these precious animals in their natural habitat. I love how you accompany each day with some refreshing adult beverages and amazing food. What amazing experiences you are having in Kenya ?

Samburu
Yay, well done on the lion sighting! And the elephant walking past your tent as you were writing, amazing! I also feel the same in situations where local people and children anticipate gifts from foreign tourists, it makes me feel uncomfortable also. I hope you get to see a leopard ?

Samburu
Seeing the lion was so amazing! Alas, no we did not end up seeing a leopard while on safari. Maybe we will on a future trip!

Safari!
Safari time! Yay! What a fantastic introduction to the wild and wildlife of Africa! You have some really amazing photos here, well done! How wonderful to hear the sound of crickets chirping as you turn in for the night ?

Safari!
Thanks Alex! It was a such a wonderful start to our safari.

Kenya!
Ah, Kenya! I love Kenya! It was my first African country, and it holds many wonderful memories for me - the Nairobi National Park, Giraffe Centre and Karen Blixen House all wonderful. I'm so glad to read you arrived safely, and had such a wonderful start to your African Adventures - giraffes and elephants, a great start indeed! ?

Thanks Alex - it was such a wonderful first day in Kenya!

Windmills
Oh what wonderful photos! Quintessential Holland with the windmills! So nice that it was a sunny day for you too, rural Holland looks a delight! I too would have revisited the liqueur shop I think. It's been so nice reading about the Holland leg of your trip, I'm looking forward now to reading about Kenya ?

Windmills
I wish I could have brought a bottle of the sour cherry liqueur home with me - it was so good!

Covid Tests
Gosh, that would have been a bit stressful for me too, waiting for the Covid test results and knowing that your trip to Kenya depended on them. So glad to read they came back, and negative too ? I'm sorry to read about the no-show tour guide. I find it amazing that on the travelling road, when such things happen and our plans go awry, that something else always seems to crop up which is also special - hope you enjoyed the drinks and the Chinese takeaway instead ?

Covid tests
Yes, the issues with getting the COVID test results were a bit stressful at the time but it worked out just fine (things always seem to work out)! We were happy to head back to our comfy B&B with our Chinese take-away, and didn’t mind about the no-show guide in the end. As you know, you have to be flexible and take things as they come when travelling.
