Dublin
Very interesting. I hope to visit Dublin and Ireland at some point soon. It's one of those places that is so near, yet one travels to other more far-off places first... I'm glad the sun was out for you there ?

Dublin
Thanks Alex. I would definitely recommend visiting Dublin and south west Ireland. It's funny how you end up travelling to more distant places before closer ones - but I am jealous of you being so close to so many places - compared to us in Canada :).

Horseback Riding
What a beautiful way of seeing the Irish countryside, on horseback! The Dingle Peninsula looks stunning, and I'm glad that the weather seemed mostly to hold off for you there. And a lovely rainbow to greet your return to Dublin with! I believe the Irish say that a leprechaun hides a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow ?

Horseback Riding
Yes, the horseback ride was a fantastic way of seeing the countryside, and I'm so glad we did it. It was nice to have some nicer weather, for sure (Ireland certainly had very changeable weather even on nicer days). Unfortunately we didn't find the pot of gold!

I've enjoyed following your blogs...
you both had great food, plenty to drink, and sights to see. So where were your ancestors from?

I've enjoyed following your blogs
Thanks very much Bob. I didn't do any ancestor hunting on this trip, I didn't have enough specific information on the Irish ancestors I have in the Republic, and we didn't have enough time to investigate my great grandmother's roots in Northern Ireland. Perhaps on a future trip. Thanks for reading!

Love your travel blogs
Howdie girls, we have both really enjoyed your travel news past and present, thank you for including and remembering us. We have yet to visit Ireland, but in 2016 we had a mammoth 10 week trip which included Scotland, England, France, Spain, and Morocco. Currently we are both still working so that when we travel it's business class baby!! We are both well, grandparents and as Billy Connelly says "making groaning noises getting in and out of a chair." A true sign of maturity of body ?? You made it to Vietnam, we hope you can make it down under one day. Take care and keep well and happy. ??????

Love your travel blogs
Hi Chris and Grant, so good to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blogs. Your 2016 trip sounded fantastic. Did you like Morocco? We were there last fall and really enjoyed it. I would love to see Scotland - all those castles! Business class is the way to go - unfortunately we are stuck in economy :(. Susan knows all about "making groaning noises getting in and out of a chair", hah. We would love to visit Australia and we definitely will one day - we would love to see you both. If you have any plans to visit Canada, we've got a spare room with your name on it. Take care, love Lori & Susan

Belfast is an education.... religion, history and wonderful people.

Belfast
Yes, it certainly was. It was really a privilege to hear the views of both sides.

Conflict Textiles - “Through the Barricades”

Where is the love?
I like this tribute to the people who saw people as people, and looked beyond religion and politics (although the crooked / uneven lines in the fabrics are doing my head in!) :) I feel a similar way to you when faced with such entrenched animosity between groups... I just don't see the point of it - we get one life, and it's too short to waste on hate.

Conflict Textiles - “Through the Barricades”

Where is the love?
There are lots of people working at maintaining the peace, but I must admit I found the ongoing divisions a bit surprising. I suppose I shouldn't have, considering the Troubles went on for close to 30 years, and of course the history of English rule goes back 800 or so years ... I wonder if in a generation or two the animosity and divisions will have faded. I hope so.

Castles and Cliffs
Wow! Stunning! I've often thought to visit the cliffs of south-west Ireland. Your blog entry gives me further inspiration to do so. Well done on being able to walk above them, I'm not sure I could have gone right up to the edge either...! Fish 'n' chips and Guinness in a cosy BnB sounds a perfect end to the day!

Thanks Alex, we really enjoyed south west Ireland. The scenery was spectacular!

Giant's Causeway
Is it slippery walking?

Giant’s Causeway

It was a little slippery Mom, but we had good shoes so we were fine.
