I love the experiences you are having on this trip. Sounds like such a lovely day of walking... but I did smirk at the words 'level' and 'goat path' in the same sentence! I try to assess such descriptions based on the fitness of the person saying it, but still get caught out :) Zigi is clearly quite fit :D

And as quick as that it is over
It is always lovely to get home after a trip and settle into the comfortable and familiar but a great sadness that another adventure has ended. I love rereading the blogs and remembering all the things we did. Life is the grand adventure. With all those steps I'm certain you lost weight. The foods and drink looked amazing. Grant and I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog and travelled vicariously along with you. I have to say we were somewhat tipsy after the many Aperol spritz. One of the best I ever had was in an Italian restaurant in Prague of all places! Croatia is spectacular looking but the stairs would finish Grant off for sure, and my knees would make me a close second. I am not surprised to hear that the Romans still think they are far superior beings, as I think they are just fed up with all the tourists. We recently watched an old movie called “The Scarlet and the Black” starring the very debonair Gregory Peck, about the German occupation of Rome. I thought it was fiction based on that event but no true story. The scene shots in the Vatican and surrounds brought back great memories. Now that you have recovered your lost sleep, rested your weary legs and refreshed you cat cuddles, don’t worry about the humdrum, but plan your next adventure. What a lovely place to swim! I'm so impressed at how much you write as you travel, and how you manage to fit it all in whilst on the road. St Mary's Island looks a very peaceful place, and a wonderful location for a monastery.

Blogging while travelling does take a lot of time (mostly late nights), but I prefer it, rather than blogging after I get back. I like that sense of immediacy blogging while travelling gives, and that way my family and friends get to vicariously travel with us, I would have to write a lot while travelling anyway, to remember everything, so I might as well just take the extra time and do a blog. Plus I really don’t want to do it all when I get back!

Gosh, how beautiful. I've rarely read much about Croatia beyond Dubrovnik, so lovely to read about this little place and see the photos. There's nothing like a short boat ride to arrive in a new place I think. And well done on braving the steep stairs - there's often a good view up these things waiting as a reward!

Local expereinces...
I absolutely love the sound of that Farm dinner! It's exactly gems like that that make our trips so very special. The only other time we've had apartments with Intrepid was in Italy (in Lucca) but it was a shared apartment with other group members - we scored lovely people so it was a very positive experience. I smiled at the mention of the three-in-one-coffee sachets - wonderful memories of being on trips :)

Local experiences
It was such a fantastic dinner and evening at Hora Farm - a highlight for sure. We first had those three in one coffees in Cambodia, so I’m always reminded of that trip when we have them … they come in handy while travelling. This time we found two in ones (no sugar) which I liked.

Wow, you fitted so much into just one day - sounds like the kind of day I also do when I travel! Dubrovnik looks beautiful, and the food sounds wonderful. I'd be interested also to learn how the war impacted Croatia, I too heard much more about it from Bosnia and Sarajevo.

Apartments
I'm intrigued by the apartments Lori - is it like a homestay (but without food) or more like an Airbnb that Intrepid is using instead of a hotel? Hope all the apartments were all as lovely as yours sounds :)

I would say it’s more of an Air B&B that Intrepid uses. The apartments we had in Korcula and Hvar were really good, both in excellent locations in the old town, and very local-feeling. The one in Sibenik wasn’t so well located (a bit of a distance from the old town) and we had to share a small kitchen area with others on the floor. It was unfortunate since we were there four days - we really would have liked being right in the old town.
