So now we're in Capetown staying in a backpackers hanging out until Friday when Jac, Kath and Kate fly off to South America and I head to Qatar to see the Storms. It was quite a strange feeling to leave the tour yesterday and as I've already mention we are choosing to still spend time together as a group. We went on a trip out to Robben Island yesterday afternoon, the island holds the prison where a large amount of political prisoners were held during the apartheid years including Nelson Mandela. It was also a leper colony for many years, a base during WW2 and a mental asyslum so it's had a rather interesting history. Last night we headed out for dinner with a few people from the tour and brought them back to the backpackers ... read more

Hi everyone Well we've now finished the truck tour and have moved into our very flash backpackers in Capetown....it's kind of nice to get out of the tents and into nice beds and have an ensuite bathroom but I do miss it a little. So when I last wrote we were into our second day in Swakopmund in Nambia. We had a fantastic time out on the dolphin cruise, saw so many dolphins off the back of our boat...it was amazing. They were doing acrobatics and swimming alongside. There were also a massive amount of seals and a few jumped into the boat and provided us with a bit of entertainment....especially when there were 2 at once and one was trying to hug one of the other people on the boat. We were treated to a ... read more

Hi everyone So I think last time I left you I was in Rundu, Namibia. Well the amazing times have been getting better and better since then! We left Rundu....early in the morning once again and drove to Etosha national park. The park has 3 campsites in it, one on each side and one in the middle so the plan was to stay at all three and drive through the park in BOB (Bright Orange Bus) our very old and sad bus/truck that is no built for comfort. The campsites in the park are really good....hot showers, flushing toilets, pools and bars on site which were all well needed after a day of sitting in BOB in the hot sun. We had some fantastic viewings of animals and even found a male and female lion in ... read more

Hi Everyone Well it’s been a few days since my last post....pretty much due to the lack of internet facilities in the Okavango Delta area. We’ve been roughing it bush camping with no shower and a long drop loo in the most beautiful places When I left you last time we were in Kasane Botswana. We had yet another night of playing cards and drinking in the camp bar and yet another early morning after when we hit the road to the Okavango......600 km’s of road....with a few sightings of lions, zebra, giraffe and impala. We hit the delta area and were taken by boat....a very cold and wet 90 minute boat ride through the delta pan handle to a village called Serongo. We were then shepherded onto trucks to take us to our camp through ... read more

Hello again I'm currently sitting in an internet cafe in Kasane in Botswana which is very close to the Chobe National Park. Kasane is a small town....very dusty and hot! We're staying in a camp tonight just out of town, there are 3 other trucks in the camp so I'm thinking it may be a big night. So since I last wrote a lot has happened......we went out on our sunset wine canoe cruise and had a fantastic time, the first hippo sighting was a little scary! In the morning of that day we went out on a walking tour with some of the local guys and saw a couple elephants wandering around we then went to the Victoria Falls.....wow that was amazing, I've never seen anything like it. After a long walk back to the ... read more

Hey everyone Just thought I'd quickly get on and let you know that I've arrived safe and sound in Vic Falls, Zimbabwe. It took a mammoth amount of flying to get here but wow it's all so worth it now that I'm here! I met up with my Jac, Kath and Kate in Johannesburg late on Sunday, they'd flown in for Uganda earlier in the morning and were waiting for me out on the lawn with a glass of wine to help me with my jet lag. On Monday morning (yesterday) we caught our flight up to Victoria Falls and wow was it hot....especially while we queued up for an hour to get our entry visa. I was so happy to see my pack at the baggage collection and all my stuff was still intact...double bonus! ... read more
