The Old Age Travellers
Hi folks, we are Michael and Caroline, previously blogging as michaelandcaroline, to record our career break "gap year" - 2007 to 2009. We loved it so much we've decided to do it again!
Having tried desperately to reacclimatise to work and normal life after our last big adventure for the past 3 years (full marks for effort eh!), somehow this didn’t quite grab us as much as the thought of travelling to places we love and those we have aspired to & dreamed about but somehow haven’t made it to so far – so we had to put this right!!
Phase 1 started off in Nepal & Bhutan, we didn't get to Tibet again, then on to India, Japan & the Phillipines.
We had to change our plans to travel to West Africa for two reasons - first, the war in Mali, and second and more important, Michael's youngest daughter had a little girl - Olive. So we spent an enjoyable 6 months back in the UK before starting the next trip.
Phase 2 is Cuba - with a little sojourn in the Caymans either side, and then a great big road trip through the US and Canada, finishing off in New York in November.
This will be the last big trip; in future we'll do things in more bite size chunks. The pace as usual will be slower and we hope to keep family, friends and fellow travellers updated via this blog – so tune in from time to time.
For anyone who thought life ended at 30 ……. We can assure you it only starts at 50!!! Enjoy, and happy living – life’s too short when all is said and done; follow your heart & your dreams.
