Restaurant tips I really enjoyed reading about your northern Morocco travels - Asilah looks and sounds lovely. Morocco in on our shortlist and I'll have to read this blog again for all your restaurant recommendations :)
Wow 7300 words. That's a long (but very informative) blog! It's many years since I was last in Morocco - little seems to have changed however! My fondest memories are of the medinas and souks. You seem to have enjoyed many of them too.
I was amazed to read you comments about the train journeys. Surely, nothing could have worse toilets than 3rd Class on Indian Railways!
P.S. TravelBlog has a problem with the percentage symbol (see: your para 8, 'We discover that...', which shows '80%!o(MISSING)r ...'. Use the word 'percent' to avoid it.
Thank you for your blog...a great read. In 1997 l did a similar trip starting in Atlanta, Montgomery, Jackson, Oxford, Canton, up the Natches trail to Tupelo Memphis and then Nashville. I loved it and always want to revisit. We live in the UK, and now travel to San Fran 3 times a year to see my partners daughter who lives there and lve always wanted to redo the Deep South and Blues and Civil Rights trail. I saw the Rick Stien programme a couple of years ago and mentally noted the places he visited. Clarksdale is definatley on our agenda. Im a huge fan of John Mayall who was very influenced with American Blues music and JB Lenoir whose grave l want to find and visit. We've just come back from a trip to California and visited LA and in our own way discovered a bit of the City. We are planning the trip in April and l have found your blog really helpful and very informative( the good side of the Internet)
Really appreciated reading this
Thank you
Tony
Wow!!! You covered a lot of territory in one week. And thanks for the memories...I was one of those pilgrims walking to Santiago last year, and enjoyed rest days in Burgos allowing my ankle to heal a bit.
Yummy journey! I was transported back to France through your descriptions of the lovely, local delicacies you enjoyed! So brilliant to have a car for following scenic back roads, for visiting the charming small towns, and for glamping! I visited many of these same spots, but on public buses and in hostels only; thus, I couldn't do justice to the Dordogne as you did. Congratulations on selling and downsizing--more time and money for travel!
Luxury digs and feasts! Love it that you got this luxury hotel with its pool, breakfast buffet and massages as a thrown in bonus! A fabulous way to end your holiday! The fabulous, feasting foodies! I love that you visited so many delicious restaurants and tapas bars, and markets for treats to take home! I stayed in each of these places much longer, one to two weeks each, but didn't sample the local food except in the markets. Thus, I'm enjoying prepared Spanish cuisine through you. I was in Malaga in the spring, and as you predicted, it was sweltering, though Salamanca in the snow was charming. Great that you have wheels for freedom! Thanks for the wonderful, tasty tour.
Fabulous and helpful :) Hi Caroline/Michael
It was an experience to read your blog on Bakhel. I'm planning to be there on the 8th of April and have been interested in seeing it for myself, eventually. Akshay's my nephew (his dad is my cousin) and I have been overwhelmed by what they have achieved - that's just by following their website(!!) Your blog has been helpful in getting a more real picture of what to expect when I'm there and issues they face. Thank you!! (I found your blog quite accidentally, when I Google'd Hunar Ghar) :)
Happy Birthday C! What a fantastic holiday and birthday for C! It all sounds wonderful, but I must say, I was most entertained by theperfect grandparent's description of the perfect grandchild, Olive, "inquisitive, cheeky and gorgeous." Enjoy the cowboy boots, almost certainly more expensive, but perhaps more elaborate/creative than you might find in Mexico. Incidentally, rather like Katz but maybe cheaper is Zabar's that I found only my last night there--scrumptious and an institution on the Westside. I'll try both when there next. Ciao!
Bon Voyage !!! Great blog. was looking about north indian cities. liked the concept of genieforcity.com . it covers several north india cities .some good info too.
whats ur take ?any suggestions?
One big pumpkin! What a fantastic leaf-peeping tour! I'm going to follow your tour when I return to the US--love your leaf and restaurant recommendations! I'm glad you found a Trader Joe's--they have great European (Stilton cheese, etc) foods as well as pretty economical tipples. Pretty interesting that the Pilgrims were first in Cape Cod, now such a pricey destination. I'll bet their descendents are sad they didn't stay. Looking forward to what American myths you dig up in Philly.

Makes me want to go to Toronto! Great blog--mouthwatering treats and charming quarters in what I'd thought of as a big city, but which seemed very approachable. Must visit!
RUSH LANE If you ever go back to Toronto, drop into Rush Lane & Co at 563 Queen Street West for the best cocktails in Canada...and ask for Simon (our son). You probably walked past it. Its the one with the mural by Beau Stanton of a Titanic type scene on its street facade. Behind it is Rush Lane AKA Graffiti Street. We head there for Christmas...a tad colder than your visit...and thanks for the tips on where to visit.
Hi folks, we are Michael and Caroline, previously blogging as michaelandcaroline, to record our career break "gap year" - 2007 to 2009. We loved it so much we've decided to do it again!
Having tried desperately to reacclimatise to work and normal life after our last big adventure for the past 3 years (full marks for effort eh!), somehow this didn’t quite grab us as much as the thought of travelling to places we love and those we have aspired to & dreamed about but somehow haven’t made it to so far – so we had to put this right!!
Phase 1 started off in Nepal & Bhutan, we didn't ge... full info
