Laugh!! This blog is the best tonic for brightening up a dark UK!
Glad to see Christine is causing no problems, and Stephen is left providing the entertainment!!
Problems ? Me !
It's taken some time for us to get used to the camper van, but at least we've now stopped hitting our heads on the inside bulk head !
Pleased to hear that you enjoy our trip. Hopefully will issue another edition in about 7 days
safe! Hi
we were glad to hear from you as we have been hearing about the fires on the news, I wasn't sure where you were going to next. The islands look fantastic and more like Australia should be, keep enjoying yourselves.
Jane and Jeff
ps I quite liked the grey beard a touch of distinguished gentleman about it!
Not distinguished, just old ! The beard had to go, I just felt too old with it.
We're too far north of the fires for any problems but are going that way !
Beardless in Cairns Nice speaking to you earlier, Cobber. And the Sheila. Looks idyllic but don't fancy the snakes, spiders, crocs and jellyfish. Just booked three hols for next year but seem insignificant compared to your 52 weeks. Carol thinks Chris must be shop-starved already, M&S shares plummeting. Happy motoring in your mini-Winnebago.
Topping up tans Hi Christine & Steve, we are in Mallorca for half term week topping up our tans too. Beaches are good, not as pretty as your Whitehaven, but no snakes, crocodiles, or shower stalking spiders either! I am practicing my Spanish although the locals usually answer in English as they can somehow sense my foreignness. Yes, I have been playing for Foxhills team 3, (2 wins, 1 loss.) Also a win as a sub for Team 2, bit of a surprise.
Enjoy your camper van, drive safe!
Photos are brilliant and really convey the beauty of the place - we are very envious particularly as we seem to be in for a bad storm and gales over the next 48 hours! On the bright side though we are in our lovely comfy house all nice and cosy with every amenity! Love from us both. x
not so big tree As you're not very tall Steve, I reckon that big tree isn't really big after all and you've been Photoshopping! Off to South East tomorrow on boys' boozy bash. If I survive the smoke and what you Southerners call beer I'll be in touch in a few days, when I've recovered. (I wonder if that will draw some flack from your Southern friends?) Seriously though....enjoy reading the blog but it's conditional on you reading my best-seller 'History of Slingsby Village over the last 200 years' next year. (I love these snappy titles) Cheers. David
Best seller ! Sounds like you're onto a winner with that book !
We're sitting at Perth airport waiting for our flight to Cairns where we pick up our camper van on Friday pm.
Everything was going fine until we checked in and found our travel agent hadn't booked us in any luggage ! Cost us £47 extra and than when we went through security they confiscated our saucepan because it had an offensive handle !
Enjoy the larger ! Hope to speak to you soon as internet access now easy because I've got a dongle, bet that impresses you !
Steve
Australia Got concerned that one had not heard from you so good to get an update. Not sure why you thought you would have a problem at the Aussie immigration. I never had a problem and good to see neither did you. Also good to see it's raining in Western Australia, (well good for WA but maybe not so good for you). Keep the updates coming. Enjoying each and every one and glad it's all going well.
Out of touch Hi Dom
I'm pleased to hear that you still find the blogs worth logging into.
The reason for my silence has been the difficulty in getting internet access. Some of the places we have stayed wanted to charge £5 for 10 mins !
Hopefully normal service of blogs will be resumed as I don't want to lose my readership !
Always scary getting into Oz when carrying drugs (for medicinal purposes of course)
we leave WA on Thursday for Cairns and our camper van
Stephen
Australia Still following your blog with interest. Hopefully Australia going into winter will bring some sunshine. Can't quite believe that you thought you could get a good nights sleep a) in a tent and b) without some sort of mattress! But hay hoy all a learning curve - deep updating! x
Freemantle Hi
good to hear about your adventures, seems like there is too much rain at the moment and a few too many animals that want to do you harm! It was interesting to hear your account of Freemantle as my brother Nicky lives there and as we never hear from him (unless he is on death's door!)it is nice to hear from somebody else about that area. Continue to enjoy your trip, looking forward to seeing all the photos
love Jane and Jeff xx
Freemantle hi Freemantle is really nice ! we've now moved on to Warpole at the bottom of Western Australia and it's sunny at last !
you really won't want to see all of our photos !!
Nice to hear from you
steve
Steve looks happy Are you sure your picture 'Walking to Brook Dam' isn't a left over from The Lake District?
If it's any consolation it's wet and windy here too.
We went to Whitby last weekend with our guests, so we also had fish & chips. Ours was cod. Fascinating. Went to a musical soiree last night at Castle Howard. All this and cod too. How interesting can life get?

Dam dam dam ! We've seen a few dams now and they're all full due to the rain, just like the Lake District.
Do you want to buy a second hand tent------- only used 3 times !
What a missed photo opportunity... You tease with a description of the taxi interior and the illuminated gear lever - How very dare you sir not to get the gentleman to pose with his car!
always enjoyable Thanks Steve, I seem to always enjoy your blogs and they always make me smile. I am not going to admit it to you two, but I am even starting to look forward to them!
Thanks hi careful I nearly detect a compliment ! I hope the next edition will be more fun and interesting as the last couple have been a bit dull because we've not done much but travel.
hope the bridge is going ok, and you miss me !
We are Steve & Chris. In 2013/2014 we travelled around the world and had a wonderful time. The nomadic existence suited us more than we could have imagined. So once back in the UK we soon got bored (well I did) and over the winter months planned another trip. Only 3 months this time to revisit Malaysia, the bits we missed last time and to explore the outback of Australia.
Only crocodiles, snakes and spiders to avoid !
