First medical emergency!! Glad your having a great time and note the first medical emergency has occured. Hope your eyes better now. You are obviously not built for snorkelling.
Enjoy the rest of your trip some of us just soak up the luxury on a wonderful river cruise on the Rhine. No creepy crawlies and wall to wall cordon bleu food!
A victory at last Still loving your blogs with all your "ups & downs". Julia & I were victorious on Thursday night, which included another slam! Did you ever think of bridge while you were in the jungle?!!!! Off to Portugal tomorrow for 2 weeks. It's got a bit colder here in the last few days so looking forward to some warmth again. Keep writing and I'll have lots of catch up on when I get back.
Some things don't change Your updates are the highlight of our week......it's good to have sent you off first on such an adventure so that we can learn from what doesn't go so well. It sounds far more fun although I can sense one or two frustrations!! Travel safely and remember its going to be such a great opportunity to rest......
Keep us amused by more updates.......lots of love, XXXX
Tales from the travellers hi I'm pleased you find our adventures------- and misadventures worth keeping up with !
The trips going well apart from the normal mishaps for me !
The next edition will be in about 6 days time, possible not so amusing unless something happens to us between now and then !
Our Skype address is: stephen.dormer1 if you'd like a chat over Christmas when you're in NZ
Well it can only get better! Hi - well I have just started reading your blog - and it doesn't sound as if its got off to a brilliant start! Things can only get better - maybe you need to spend a little bit more on accommodation and get some luxuries! you know hot water and decent beds! I will keep checking in! x
Keep reading hi I'm pleased you're checking up on us. Read them all and you will see we're actually having a really good time apart from missing a train and getting stuck in a boring place for a couple of days !
We are on a tight daily budget and by saving on the accommodation costs over the first two weeks it has now allowed us to go to a tropical island for 6 days and stay in luxury. You'll see on the next Edition !
The places we have stayed have all added to our experiences and haven't been THAT bad ! well not most of the time.
I've added you to our list of subscribers so now you will get an email telling you when the blog has been updated.
Nice to hear from you and please drop us a email when you wish.
Hope you're enjoying your tennis and save me a game for August 2014!
Good to see you are maintaining your youthful vigour by playing in jerantut park - no sign of other children in the picture, did you scare them away!
We\'ve just returned from our own tame adventure in North Norfolk, some brilliant bits, some dreadful bits, namely the beds in our cottage, just like Goldilocks we tried them all, double bed, bunk beds, sofas, sofa cushions on the floor, but nowhere was \'just right\'. We\'d also thought Norfolk was flat and had imagined easy walks and cycle rides - not so. It\'s so hilly they hire out bikes with motors!
No canopy walks for us, just hilly coastal paths (beautiful quiet beaches), no jungles, but some very overgrown nature walks where we had to beat back the nettles (reminded us of the walk we did with you around the back of Thorpe Green), no leach filled rivers (though we did get a few nasty mosquito bites - or maybe they were bed bugs) or exotic wildlife, but we had a lovely boat trip out from Blakeney to see the Seals and a number of birds we didn\'t recognise (forgot the Bird Book).
Explored some of the towns and villages, again a mixed bag, some places we wouldn\'t visit again. Ate quite a lot, drank quite a lot (well M did). Weather was fabulous all week but forecast for Friday was very very wet so given the lack of good sleep and increasingly aching bodies (how can a mattress and pillow be so hazardous) we headed back a day early - our comfy bed beckoning.
Now we\'ve had a wonderful nights sleep, aches and pains vanished, feeling refreshed and raring to go (back to work), all in all a good time.
Keep the blog coming, it\'s great!
hi
I'm pleased to hear we're not the only ones getting out ! yes on the subject of beds, it's the only thing I miss from home. I've also had some terrible nights sleep and only been going 3 weeks.
Chris says she can sleep anywhere and does !
Thanks for such a long message it really is good to hear from every body.
Hope to catch up soon with another episode of the aged travelers !
Enjoying the Blog Enjoying the blog. Reading every one and amazed that you are doing it so regularly. Is this going to be kept going through the remainder of the trip I wonder. So far so good.
Nothing else hi Dom
It's great to hear from you and that you're keeping track of us.
I do a bit every night to remind us what we've done, to look back on. Also there's not much else for us to do of an evening so far.
Some have compared me to Bill Bryson, but I don't think he's as good !
Next installment in about 6 days. We're having some R & R in the sun.
Carry On Up The Jungle Hi Kate and Bill,
Not only is it damp in the jungle - it's pretty damned wet here today in N Yorks, first rain we've seen for months so we're desperate. Been looking under bushes but no leeches found here, thank goodness. We're off to Split tomorrow (but don't think we'll pack the gaiters) so won't be responding for over a week. Tried to get Skype but failed. Further investigations revealed a larger prob with laptop so it's at the doctor's. Will try again when we get home. Love the shorts Steve, could you not find any long ones?
Me Tarzan her Jane Hi sorry to hear about the rain, they only have monsoons here !
we are now on a tropical island sunning ourselves, you'll see the photos when you get back.
Have a good time in Split and hopefully when you come out of the dark ages we may be able to Skype!
Taman Negra 4 days Jerantut 1 day Even in "the middle of nowhere" they have Pizza Hut and internet connection! What's the world coming to? (Bloody tourists.) When I worked overseas (he said pulling his grey beard) you were lucky if you could even send a letter home never mind get a reply.
Anyway hope Chris' tum is better now and that you've recovered from the leaches. Not much going on this end. Summer is amazingly still with us. (At least until the weekend.) Went to the local festival Saturday. UB40 headlined and we had goat curry while there. See we can be exotic too.
Am sending out party invites today. Don't suppose there's any point in inviting you two globe-trotters. Still, your loss if you will go of gallivanting at the wrong time.
So look after yourselves, ENJOY and I hope your not missing the joys of jolly old England yet.
Cheers xx
Joys? Thanks for keeping in touch we like to get "letters" from people.
We're in another awful place at the moment but are moving on by Friday. The food's so bad we've had to go to another Pizza Hut, the only other choice was MacD !
Weather still very hot and humid, you'd hate it!
Think of us the night of your party, bring an I-pad and we can skype a "happy birthday"
Not missing little blighty, or even the footie!
Steve Globetrotter Dormer
more gastronomic delights. As usual I am highly amused by your blog. I especially like the fact that you complain about there being too many tourists. Excuse me but aren't you helping to boost those numbers?
This is really turning into quite a gastronomic delight for you; first Burger King and now Pizza Hut. At least the leeches get a good meal!
Jungle Enjoy the jungle trek, sounds like the real adventure part of the trip has started! Although you must have electricity and Internet access to post this. Do you have Sky sports too? You are missing some good tennis from Flushing Meadows; Murray, Robson and Evans are doing well.
Tennis! hi
I don't think they have heard of the game in these parts and it's far too hot to run around.
We were very surprised to find they had the internet this far in the middle of no where !
Hope you continue to enjoy following us

Hi
The days are fine, it's sleeping at night that is the problem. Hardly had a good nights sleep since we left.
Good luck at bridge next week, you have to win sometime !
We are Steve & Chris. In 2013/2014 we travelled around the world and had a wonderful time. The nomadic existence suited us more than we could have imagined. So once back in the UK we soon got bored (well I did) and over the winter months planned another trip. Only 3 months this time to revisit Malaysia, the bits we missed last time and to explore the outback of Australia.
Only crocodiles, snakes and spiders to avoid !
