Thanks Oilerguy. Well I've taken so many photos now, I hope I'm learning a few things along the way! Vietnam is a great country, and very easy to get around - maybe too easy at times! When do you go?

Beautiful photos again Jon...I think you might even be getting better with time! I'm absolutely loving following your blog, jotting down all the little spots along the way that I plan on hitting as well. I can't wait to test out REAL Vietnamese coffee, as opposed to the stuff I can find locally.

Hi Su, yep I made it to SEA and I'm loving it so far! I love eating (you might have guessed from my blog!), so I like a people who eat all day and night! My month on Borneo has accommodation with a local family included, but once I've worked out where I'm going in Malaysia I might well call on your contacts!! Jon

SEA
Finally you made it to SEA.You are right about the French colonists leaving something good behind for once. FOOD! Though I do not live in Malaysia anymore (city of Whittier, suburb of Los Angeles,Obama country) I have a lot of friends in KL, JB and Singapore.Let me know if you want to meet or stay with Malaysians or Singaporeans. Food is a big thing in both countries. We are known to eat all day and night long and still not add a kg on our little bodies. :)

Thanks Rob... it continues to be an incredible trip... here's hoping the last 5 months are as good as the first 7!

Hiya
Hey Jonathan I particularly liked Photo 16,i too have spent major part of my life in India and Nepal, and when we live "in" the place we become so fearless ,words like ambush ,Maoist, terror form part of our lives and we enjoy living with the day to day adventures. Funny that, I am sure my 3 year daughter will be totally surprised with the ways of life when she visits her mothers home country as a tourist. Nice reading your experiencw, hope you enjoy your Vietnam trip. Cheers Meena

Tibet
Hi Thomas, thanks for your comments on my blog - entries for Gyantse and Lhasa will follow shortly! Tibet was an amazing place and I'd highly recommend a visit. I might not be able to offer you much advice though, as I booked onto an organised tour from Kathmandu, which organised my visa etc. for me. I believe it's the only way to visit Tibet, as the Chinese authorities don't allow individuals to enter. If you're coming from China, you might be able to book onto a group tour in Chengdu, but I doubt you'll be able to just turn up in Lhasa. If you can, you're better travelling overland from Kathmandu to Lhasa, then get a train or fly to Chengdu from there. You should be able to arrange your visa for China at the same time as your visa for Tibet... that's what a few people on my trip did. Altitude was fine, and the Tibetan culture was there to see in the rural areas and provincial cites, but less so in Lhasa... that was actually a bit of a shock. The people are amazing, but going right now will be pretty cold, so take lots of warm clothes!!

Re: Tibet
Hi Loved your most recent blog entry! Shigatse looks beautiful. I, like you, have always wanted to go to Tibet and now I think the opportunity is here. I having been looking for a traveler who has been recently to try and get some up-to-date information. We are basically in Nepal and are looking at booking a flight to Chengdu and booking a Tibet trip from there. Do you have any recommendations or experiences you can share, with regards visa, Chinese government and current restrictions. You went overland? How was altitude etc and also arrangement of visa’s (we want to travel on to China after Tibet!) The other concern/question I had was how alive the Tibetan culture is. Tashi Lun Po sounds like a “very much alive” answer to this question. Any info would be great Thanks Tom (And Vanessa)

Hi, Chitwan is about a 5hr coach ride from Kathmandu... you can do it for 1 or 2 nights or longer if you want. I use Nikon 18-70mm and 70-300mm lenses... but they're older ones without VR.

Absolutely stunning shots! I am also planning on visiting Nepal next year, and was just wondering how far away this park is from Kathmandu? Also, what type of lens are you using for these photos...I need to pick up something other than my kit lens for my Nikon DSLR and would love to hear your recomendations. Thanks!
