Hi Folks again, I have had to eat a large helping of humble pie since last entry. I will now explain why. I was left to arrange the hotel in Cordoba by the better half, went onto web and booked hotel via Alpha rooms for Cordoba as I thought and site had indicated. Noted the hotels address down as being in Granada, drove 200kms to Cordoba and tried to find hotel only to find someone had moved the hotel to Priego de cordoba which is no where near Cordoba. (90kms away) Not a big problem as I now knew the road as I just driven it, headed back to-wards Malaga. The car was very quiet and not much being said by Eunice, I was a worried man at this point not knowing what I had booked, ... read more

We had booked a week at a place called Sol Andulucia and enjoyed it so much we stayed for two such is our busy schedule. Had some very intersting times on Spanish roads are there any rules here?double parking, overtaking on corners, passing on roundabouts and of course the national sport of beat the red light at all costs. Which has led to Eunice questioning my impecable driving skills, which I had to defend my driving record. I have to report that Eunice had a run in with one of the natives at the 18th hole of Lauro golf course, a certain Mr Gander by name a vicious individual, I was in some trouble myself at the time, under a bush. when I heard the screams from the fairway. I ran to her rescue and saved ... read more

Left Valencia on 22 March and headed towards the south of Spain where we had rented an apartment in Malaga for the week starting 27 March. So had 5 days to get there. We'd booked a B&B in La Manchica which is a small village outside Fuente Alamo near Cartegena. This was the first time the weather has been good enough to get out on our bikes. Cycled into Fuente Alamo and found a WIFI friendly bar. Decided to go back next day and update blog to find that the bar electric was off so sat drinking cider with bar owner and some expats for rest of afternoon. Great fun. Took boat trip around Cartagena bay and got history of city and port. Its a beautiful city largely unknown to Brits. Spent the day exploring. There's ... read more

Stayed in an apartment overlooking the 9th hole at El Bosque Golf course at Godellata which is 15 minutes from Valencia. The apartment was great if not a tad cold. We were definitely the first people there this year. Ronnie drove into Valencia and our nerves are still recovering. At one stage I thought I was sitting next to Mutley from Dick Dastardly with all the under breath muttering and cursings. Most of the city was cordoned off for the festival. Decided to park the car on outside Valencia on the Friday which was the final day and get the metro in. Much easier. On Friday there as a great firework and fire display. I loved it. We played golf on the Tuesday. Managed to get a discounted rate as the apartment owner is Geoff Hurst. ... read more

we left Cognac on 13 March and have rented an apartment on a golf course outside Valencia. As its over 600 miles to Valencia, decided to make 2 stops. The first one in Pamplona. Didn't reallise it was so close to the Pyrennees the kangoo was passing snow ploughs. Amazing because didn't think the kangoo would pass anything and also because didn't expect to see snow. Got to Pamplona late and stayed for one night only. Damn cold. Wanted to go tourist route to Zaragoza so took the kangoo over the Pyrennees again, passed more snow ploughs. Kangoos rule. Respect. Stayed one night in Zaragoza. Must go back looks interesting place with loads of things to see and do. Safe city and we should know as we walked through the Bronx to go for meal. Set off from Pornic on Thursday. Travelled through countryside damaged by floods after the recent storms. Check out photos. Yet again managed to miss the disaster hope our luck keeps holding out. Were fooled by the Premier Class motel chain into thinking we had got a real bargain only to find out it was the Formula One motel chain renamed. Still basic and cheap no problem. Will use again. If anyone knows the Spanish equilvalent let us know. La Rochelle is lovely. Has the only medieval lighthouse on the Atlantic. This is where Fort Boyad was filmed and Ronnie disappointed that Melinda Messenger was nowhere to be seen. The old quarter has lots of cobble streets and great restaurants. Had great couple of days there. From La Rochelle we moved to the gite in Brives-sur-Charente, Cognac ... read more

Spent the week in a gite in a small village called Brives sur Charante, outside Cognac. The weather was bitterly cold with an icy wind. The gite was owned by a lovely couple and we had many cups of tea in their converted farm house. So cold that we didn't manage to play golf or cycle so we resorted to the next best thing, eating and drinking. We visited the Henessey distillery and explored Cognac and Saintes. Next stop Valencia for the Fallas Festival. Yipee ... read more

On our merry travels again decided we would follow the coast and check out some scenery, even managed to miss the toll roads Route 1) Honfleur via cash point(very expensive place) 2) Caen 3) Mount St Michaels - wonderfull sight as you drive along the coast and a must visit if any of you are passing by. These french monks certainly put modern builders to shame. What a stunning monastry and small town surrounded by fortified walls and tidal seas, accessed by a causeway. Spent 2 -3 hours here exploring winding cobble streets. 4)Rennes 5) St Nazaire, what a bridge we crossed here. thought at one point we were going to have to push the Kangoo. As we followed the coast road as much as possible we came across some great little villages and towns with ... read more

Landed safely at Dunkerque with the sleeping giant which is Ronnie on a boat even managed to keep hold of mornings breakfast, result. We set off to Honfleur hoping to avoid all toll roads and see a bit of scenery and managed to hit them all. Need to plan this better. Arrived at the Hotel Monet, Honfleur early evening. The place was high on a hill overlooking the town and an easy walk to the harbour. The receptionist spoke good English. The town is probably one of the oldest fishing towns I have ever seen with tiny cobble streets and wooden houses. We spent the next 2 days sightseeing, eating and drinking. Perfect really if only it wasn't so cold. Brilliant sunny days but freezing. ... read more

Hi folks as promissed a blog has been set up this was the initial leaving the building part of our travels. The planning has been stressful lots of domestics and we eventually got there thanks to all our friends for maintaing our sanity. After several attempts at packing the car we set off on our merry way, will add photos no laughing at the poor Kangoo, heavilly laden with god knows what inside. cause we are still finding things that we didnt think we had packed. Journey was fairly straight forward but long with good company the time passed quickly. The dreaded ferry crossing for me was a delight managed a good sleep true to form ( never lost my sea legs) ... read more
