Singapore is most interesting and I loved it on an overstay a few years ago. Enjoyed the heat as well to the point I didn't really notice it was hot. The Travellers will be on their way to the airport now. Oliver is very excited about his holiday. Jonty tells me that he does not want to go to Sydney for his 10th birthday but will be going to Fiji!!! Beautiful day here - off to grandparents day at Huntley later. Love Jackie

Cambodia
What a beautiful shot.

Cambodia
It is a beautiful spot that lends itself well to nice shots!

What a treasure of a place!
I think I could lose myself in many books...and cocktails...at a place like this. What a lovely way to end your Cambodian trip. By the way, I'm fairly sure that most (if not all) water snakes are amphibious :)
15th October 2014

Amphibians?!
Well I am glad I didn't know that beforehand!

Glamping
What a great place! The tents look way more fancy than most of the hotels I have ever stayed at! ;-) gotta love the shower as well! Really magical hideaway...

Glamping
The shower was really cool. The only thing to remember as I discovered, was that despite feeling like I was in the middle of nowhere, there was a bit of river traffic so I had to remember to pull the curtains! It was fantastic, I loved it there.

Living room inside the tent

You call that a tent?
Oh well...nothing like a bit of camping out to end a holiday. Looks like tenting suits you. Nice digs!

Tents
Yep, I've never been in one quite like this before. Doubtful I will again to be honest. But this kind of camping I could definitely get used to!

What a delightful place to stay with a book or two. A pity about the snakes in the river - I hope that they never make their way into the apartments.

Snakes
I didn't ask too many questions but assumed that the water snakes didn't make contact with land!

Heaven on stilts!
What perfection, and what a contrast to your last resort! Your room was gorgeous, though as you said, anything that's peaceful and beyond the internet is perfect! The fireflies sounded magical--what a great place!

Heaven!
It truly was quite a magical place.....I loved it! I am glad that this was my last spot - great memories to bring home.

Splurge with 3 stars
Sorry your 5 Star resort was disappointing. Yes, the tiny violins are out. Just laughing a bit. Some of them do seem impersonal. We've found when we are going to splurge it is best to go with a 3 star. We have found that they are nice, clean and trying harder. Although that does not hold true for castles in Ireland. They are amazing and worth the money. But I must admit that pool looks grand. I could picture myself sitting there with an adult beverage. Have fun.

Splurges
Yep, I have had the best experiences at 3 star resorts because you're right, they do try harder. The beach was gorgeous, and I managed to pass the time :)

Anti-resort
I'm totally with you on the whole cookie-cutter impersonal resort thing, but I'll take those welcome sweets and chocolates thanks. :)

Welcome chocolates
They were by far and away my favourite part about this hotel!
22nd September 2014

five-star disappointment
Good to know I don't need to give up my dorm rooms for a five-star resort. After all, when I make my coffee and oatmeal, I know I'll always find a spot to eat. Thank goodness for your private beach and spa and a little light in the five-star cloud.

Hotels...
I know, I sound very ungrateful, but compared to the smaller places I usually stay it seemed very impersonal. However there were definitely some bright spots!

Reflections
I couldn't visit the Killing Fields...I know enough about it to definitely not think I could cope. That said I agree it is inescapable to not see its effect on the population. Yet the people exhibit smiles that not only reflect their hope but makes me feel they may have the disposition to succeed in having happy lives. I hope so.

Reflections
You are right not to visit, I found it very upsetting. I knew a lot about what happened, but didn't fully appreciate the extent of the atrocities. It was a very difficult visit, but important not to forget. Unfortunately it's not the last genocide of our time....
