Cyclone Nathan
I love wind so I would have enjoyed this storm. Always easier to say that after it is over and all is good in the world. We were in a cyclone in the Philippines. Always an adventure. Glad you had fun and held your tongue on the evils of sugar.

Beach at Port Melbourne - one of my favourite pieces of art

Negative comments
Glad you've broken the spell and the weather was wonderful. Those friends of yours should keep quiet now! We loved the Melbourne Open and it was hot the day we were there. As always love following your wanderings.

Port Douglas
Nice part of the world. Lucky the cyclone was not a biggee but it seemed to throw a lot of debris onto the usually pristine beach. There's always next time!

Port Douglas
It's lovely up there. Apparently though Nathan is gathering strength and coming back! Hope it's not too bad up there. I guess in the grand scheme of things a pristine beach isn't the most important thing :-) I had a nice break anyway.

I find living through a hurricane to be rather exciting...
so long as I know I am safe! Sorry about your missing the sun.

Hurricane fun
I agree! I was in a hurricane in the Cook Islands back in 1990 and I remember thinking it was quite fun, although of course I was in a very soundly built property. I wasn't too worried about missing the sun, it was very warm and just nice to get away from Sydney for a couple of days.

Melbourne
Gets a lot of raps for its great lifestyle Rachael but welcome reminder from you that countryside and bushland regions such as the Dandenongs are within easy reach of the city centre

The Dandelions
It's nice to get out of the city, and yes, it is really beautiful up there. So close to the city too, which is a nice treat!

Lunch at Bistro C - delicious food, great view. I could get used to this.

Solo Retreat
Perfect. Recharging the battery is important from time to time and it looks like you selected the perfect location. Thanks for taking us along.

Recharging.
Hi Rachael... So much enjoyed reading this latest blog. Love the way you can make us feel that we are also there. As usual enjoyed all the photos. Would so much enjoy visiting Noosa National Park. The views look stunning.

Hi Richard, yes, the National Park is really spectacular and definitely worth a visit. Some really fabulous walks that are very accessible, plus some harder ones if you want them! Also you would love the weather - it was hot and sunny, just perfect!

Great Pictures
Hi Rachael great pictures on the blog, just awesome. Our best regards Kangaroojack

Thanks! I really loved it in Noosa, very picturesque!

Yes this looks like a suitable place for a holiday. We have never been there. Still hot over here which is great as now we are townies water comes out of a tap. Ruby is staying for a few days dropping her off on our way to Auckland for the Karaka sales and Paul Simon and Sting concert on Friday night. If you have a buying order I am sure that Tom would be happy to oblige.
26th January 2015

You should go to Noosa, I think you'd like it. Have fun in Auckland, it sounds like it's going to be great. Hopefully the weather obliges too!

The elusive wombat
Never give up. Sounds like lovely beaches and hiking.

Wombats
Don't worry, I'll find one somewhere! It was a gorgeous walk. Nice thing to do on a lazy holiday.

Thanks! It's a great photo, I wish I could take credit for it :)

Vegas!
As you've probably garnished from the comments, serious’ backpackers/travelers avoid this destination like the plague as it represents to them the antithesis of the ‘authenticity’ that they seek. But it seems you had a great time. I found the place fascinating on so many levels. As I do reading peoples impressions. Fantastic!

Vegas!
Yes I did have fun! It was also a new destination for me, and I always like to experience something new.

Vegas
Many of my friends were always talking about making it to Vegas one day which always puzzled me a bit... I always thought of it as nothing but a big money making machine... still there is definitely no other place like that in the world... Saying it is totally over the top would probably be an understatement... Happy to see there is more to it than just gambling... Not my cup of tea, but who knows I might make it there one day... Will head to the red canyon first then :-) thanks for sharing!

Vegas
Wasn't top of my bucket list that's for sure, but was fun for a few days. Red Rock Canyon is really beautiful, and definitely worth the visit!
