Retchel, Retchel...
Nice photos! I've always wanted to go to Angkor Wat. Hope you're having a great time. L

Angkor wat
Thank you I am having a lovely time. I've been thinking of you as this trip has reminded me a little of our travels in Tikal and in Mexico. You would love it here! And we could have both enjoyed a giggle about information overload!!

Great!
One thing that really excites life is the opportunity to travel. Thanks for sharing. Also you can visit http://www.myiloilo.net/ for other travel news.

Hi Larah thanks for reading.

They were either Hindu or Buddhist. True story. :)
Hehe you made me laugh Rachael! And I think Sambo may have been the very guide I had the first time I visited Angkor Wat - your experience sounds very familiar, except he yelled out Rein! Rein! in my case. Looking forward to your next adventure :D

Hindu or Buddhist
I know, it's terrible. I should be ashamed of myself....but honestly, it was so boring!
13th September 2014

Fantastic just fantastic
I want to go. Let the wine begin.
13th September 2014

Wine!
The wine is always flowing here!

Sounds heavenly
I love the sound of this place! I've never seen kangaroos in a 'boxing' fight, are they vocal when they fight? I've have seen a kangaroo kick a stupid tourist who tried to shake paws with it for a photo, and that was kinda comical too ;)

Heavenly indeed!
It really was kind of magical. No I don't remember them being very vocal, but I also didn't want to get too close. The koala on the other hand was very loud! I think that tourist who tried to shake hands with the kangaroo deserved the kick actually....but all the same hope it was a gentle one :)

Kangaroo and Joey

The easy wild life!
What a perfect combination--enjoying a gorgeous view, wine in hand and seeing amazing wildlife! This roo and joey are as adorable as those big kangaroos were fierce. A perfect OZ get-away.

Kangaroo and Joey

Wild life
It really was that easy! I loved watching the kangaroos - the book was a little neglected. I discovered that the joeys clamber into the pouch head first then rearrange themselves once they are in there. Very cute. It was the perfect getaway - just a shame it was so far from home!

A bit of biffo! Look at that kick!

FIGHTING OVER YOU?
Great shot Rachael. I also hear Kangaroo Island is a gem well worth a visit.

Kangaroo Island
Yes, it's absolutely gorgeous. My time there was too short. It definitely gives Tasmania a run for its money - have you been? You'd love it!

Melbourne is best!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this blog and looking at the interesting photos, Rachael. Don't pine too much for real winters.....they are horrible!! Look forward to hearing of your next adventure.

Melbourne vs Sydney
So that's why you haven't been to Sydney to visit! Yes you are right, real winters are no fun....but it was a bit of a novelty for a week or so. I am sure that feeling would wear off soon! My next adventure is very soon - I'm going to Cambodia next week for two weeks. Let me know if you have any tips. I hope you are well xx

What debate?? :)
The inner north is my old 'hood, and I used to pop into mario's on my way home from uni (my tram stop was just outside). Did you stayed in Fitzroy on this last trip? If you liked that area, you may also like Carlton and Brunswick. xx
5th September 2014

What debate??
You lived in a good part then! I really liked it. I've been down a couple of times over the last month for various reasons but never stayed in Fitzroy. I often stay in Port Melbourne, and went over to Fitzroy with a friend because he was looking for some artwork. I couldn't believe I'd never been there before, I loved it! Isn't Mario's a treat? I liked it. I might be back to Melbourne more and more :)

Research
Clearly a decision cannot be made until you've done complete and thorough research. Schedule a few more weekends in both.
4th September 2014

Research
I like your thinking. More research definitely required :)

I think you've got me talked into Melbourne. Next time I come downunder I'll fly there instead of Sydney and check it out. Great blog, thanks!
4th September 2014

Although you will have to go via Sydney so that we can have a travelblogger gathering....or we can plan one in Melbourne! I think Melbourne is a great city in winter.

Rose streaked glasses
Wow. had me going for a minute Rachael...she couldn't could she? Seduced by crazy graffiti, coffee shops and cosy bars down alleys. Then declaring sitting on the fence...reassured. 'Cause the diplomatic you may be...one knows in a crunch where the heart will always be.
4th September 2014

Melbourne or Sydney?
I'll keep very quiet and diplomatic about my true favourite!
