Re: Great travel log, guys
Hey Alvaro - Thanks. It was such a pleasure to write about such a gorgeous country and such an interesting travel experience. And as you know we love our 9 hour battery netbook very much! xx

Great travel log, guys
I remember that you were busy on train rides working on your diaries with your super-9-hour-battery-laptop, and I was looking fwd to reading it all, bud this exceeds my expectations. Thank you for describing me as a "five-language speaking, humorous, bright and cheerful physicist turned language teacher and travel specialist" I guess that if I put that in my CV I'll never be unemployed....

Re: Buffalo Mozarella
Hmmm now that you mention it Keith, we did not see a single buffalo in Italy! Might have to investigate further :)
4th June 2010

Buffalo Mozarella
I still want to know how they milk those buffaloes - they didn't look very prone to milking on Dirty Jobs the oyjer night. And welcome home, by the way!

Re: My nightime fix has finished
Hi Aunty Deb - we're so glad you enjoyed the blog. We've slowly been getting used to the cold weather, but glad to be home with the four-legged babies :) Not sure we'll head next, but maybe China or Japan...

My nightime fix has finished
I am really going to miss your daily blog. It was the last thing I did at the end of the night, so always went to bed with lots of wonderful thoughts of wine and food.and all the beautiful places you went to.Thankyou for sharing it with me and welcome home. Vino on the verandah now Andrew with scarf and beanie on. Where next???

Re: avidly agape in afternoons
Thanks Aileen/Mum! We could not have done it without your love and time for our four-legged ones - thanks so much again! xx

avidly agape in afternoons
Your travel blogs were wonderful--you both write so well that one is continually envious!! I could taste the food and felt heady after all the wine and limoncello, but loved every moment.

Re: Coming Home
Hey Keith, Thanks! Yes back home and at computer 'trying' to work. Andrew is missing the coffee and holiday lifestyle very much, and Ren is missing the gelato and hotel living. By the way, takes one to know one...bar stander that is :)

Coming Home
Both of your 'conveyance' was brilliant travel writing, and I for one appreciate the time and effort you put in to writing (and took out of your travelling and nanny naps). Having said that, 'We loved standing at bars in the early morning' could also be an enduring image, but only if taken out of context, of course. Hopefully you've had a bon voyage by now...

Re:
Thanks Rom! But I suppose you will be expecting a present from Italy for saying all these nice things?? Didn't have to resort to re-cycling undies thank god - ew! but was seriously going to buy new ones if our third attempt at washing didn't work out! xx
31st May 2010

I agree with Gill - You two are brilliant bloggers. Italy really comes to life the way you have captured the parts of the country that are not so well known or advertised in the guide books. I think you guys should write/publish travel books. Which means you will have to travel, travel, travel... On a different note, how did you solve the underwear situation or need I ask? xxx

Re: South Of Rome
Hey Keith, the experience was great but we've now confirmed that we prefer travelling slightly off the beaten track...Pompeii was definitely ON the beaten track. :)

South Of Rome
25 points for (possibly) spelling that Icelandic volcano correctly. But you're saying that the owner complained about the parmiagano, but not about the salt and pepper?... 700,000 people????? And the dogs? Not a happy picture. Although. This has been an extremely interesting and informative blog, as usual, but I'd have to say that I wasn't surprised by Ren's penultimate comment. Still, it's all part of the experience.

Re: Pope John-Paul II
KD - as we travel south the sun is not only out but getting much hotter; and the food is getting more excellent :)
26th May 2010

Pope John-Paul II
I think I must be in the wrong thread if the sun's out, but nevertheless: I tend to think of myself as a Buddhist Sympathiser most of the time, but I did think that John-Paul II was a pretty special bloke. I can certainly see the attraction of praying at his tomb, even if it isn't according to the rules. PS - I am glad the sun's out, the knee's fixed, and the food's still excellent.

Re: I love following your story!
Hi Jill - Italy is a magical place and we are sure you will have a wonderful time. Happy anniversary and safe travels. Do you plan on blogging while you travel? If so, email us your link...

I love following your story!
Hi, I've been following your story since I joined a couple weeks ago, and you are my favorite bloggers! My husband and I are leaving in about 48 hours for our first trip to Italy, actually our first trip outside the USA together, it's our 10th anniversary trip and we've been planning it forever it seems. Thanks for bringing Italy alive for me! Enjoy the rest of you trip! Jill
