Postmodern Odyssean
Richard James Elliott
Hello all,
Well this is it; the lone wanderer cut loose for an intrepid adventure in East Asia! Those of you who know me well enough will have no reason to fear for my safety. Because as well as an overly heavy, bursting pack I carry both my wits and an open mind which make anywhere in the world home. You might describe me as a friendly, outgoing, generous, modest egoist(!), and in the upcoming months I certainly intend to breathe deep of all the places I am going to. This is my attempt to catch that breath and make it vital, to give life to my stories both for myself and others.
As a history buff, and future undergraduate student, do not be surprised if in the course of this blog I launch into reams and reams about some dusty castle in Kyoto, or the Temples of Angkor Wat. You of course have the advantage over me, of the ability to skip those parts. But in the course of my wanderings I am in no doubt that the cultures and people I meet will be spectacular, and it is in these I hope you share my wonder. I am fiercely internationalistic and cannot wait venture out into the big wide world, so different from our own yet fundamentally concordant with it. Liberated amidst another world, I will see all the world can in its beauty reveal, and I invite you all to share this experience by logging on to my travelblog!
