After a very long journey from Guatemala onboard a stinky hot bus that could get up to a maximum of 20km's an hour, driving around cliff sides we finally arrived into Copan...to find there was no electricity or running water....when it would come back on nobody knew. It was the last thing we felt like in the heat after having being stuck on a chicken bus for over 12 hours. But Copan was a lovely little sleepy town, the gateway for for it's one and only Mayan Ruin. The cobble stoned streets are lined with brightly painted houses and store's, the town is abuzz with the sound of tuk tuk's horns. The girls and I spent the next few nights here in copan enjoying this quaint town and of course the ruins. There was also this ... read more

And yes...the answer to everyone's question is YES...They actually do have chickens on chicken buses.... Our first border crossing between Belize and Guatemala was a scary one....No one spoke English, we were being grabbed each and everyway and the guns and other weaponry was quite startling. Once we got into the swing of things it was fine but it did take some getting used to. Guatemala was definitely unexpected...It was not high on my list of places to visit but I loved every minute of it. From the sunrise over Tikal to climbing an active volcano in Antigua it has definitely been the highlight of my trip so far. First stop was the sleepy town of Flores - the gateway to Tikal. Our hostel was like a little mini resort and perhaps a little too much ... read more

The girls and I headed straight to Caye Caulker for some much needed relaxation time after a 9 month contract on board the cruise ship!! It is stunning and the most beautiful place to be when you just want lazy days by the beach. We ate seafood, drank belikin and dozed the days away...We did manage to work up enough energy to spend one of our days out on the water sailing. We swam with sharks, stingrays and were lucky enough to spot a few manatees about. San Pedro was spent much the same - another beautiful Island made famous by Madonna's classic "last night I dreamt of San Pedro"..... Though the islands were stunning, we were just too excited about our 10 week Central American adventure ahead to sit still long enough so we departed ... read more

Well, what can I say about the USA. Everything is bigger, louder, crazier, brighter, weirder and fatter! I spent my first week off the ship in Orlando with Lisy and Wee Jimmy (Cruise Director from Carnival) and had an absolute blast! Orlando has so much to offer and is so exciting. It's like the Surfers Paradise of Australia. We visted Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and SeaWorld, there was plenty of shopping, great meals out and way too many cocktails and tequilla shots. For those of you who know either Lisy or Wee Jimmy, you know exactly how much fun they are and can probably imagine the fun filled week we had. By the time I flew to West Virginia 6 days later, I was exhausted and so sick, not a great way to start ... read more

The day has finally arrived, it's time for me to pack my bags "cause I'm leaving , on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again...." The last few weeks have been crazy. When I first came onboard I thought "I'll be able to do everything and see everything I want to in nine months" WRONG. The ports of call are beautiful (except Nassau, Bahamas - totally over rated) and there really is so much to see and do. Most days we were so exhausted, that all we wanted to do in our time off was relax on the beach and eat the local cuisine. As per my position onboard, I can take advantage of complimentary tickets to all the tours, so the last few weeks have seen me do that. Everything from ... read more

Beautiful Caribbean Sunsets!

Well, the time has almost come to say goodbye...... In just a few short weeks time, I will have completed my very first work contract onboard a cruise ship. As sad as it will be to leave behind all the great memories and people I have met, I have so many exciting plans over the coming months. First, the wonderful Miss Lisy Drogemuller will be flying all the way from her temporary home in sunny England to Orlando, Florida to have a fun filled week of shopping, Disneyworld and if the past is anything to go by, quite a few bottle's of wine!!!! Next it's off to see my very lovely boyfriend in his home turf in West Virginia. Staying with his parents and hopefully getting the thumbs up from his family:) After the predicted ... read more

A big hello to you all!!!! By now I'm sure you have all realised just how hopeless I am with emailing, so this page is to keep you up to date with where I am and what I'm doing!!! Basically a page all about ME... So, as most of you know, last October I up'd and left Australia (again) to explore yet another part of this beautiful world. I'm currently based on a floating Resort in the Caribbean, otherwise known as a Cruise Ship. Most of you are probably thinking, thats the life, and trust me most days it absolutely is. Before I left I had images of lying on an exotic beach with a Pina Colada in my hand (yes, I did expect that was what I would be doing day in and day out) ... read more
