NAEFrom Blog: HAPPY EASTER!
keeping warm Well, thank God for those hotels and also people near you at the right time. Atleast you were able to get a few things done. Also, thank God you were able to get some new euipment.
Mom I have a little trick you can try. Remember the movie "The Parent Trap", when the two girls went camping with their dad and future stepmother? Well, the two girls told her to beat two sticks together and it would keep the bears away. Maybe you can try that. LOL!
Love you both and keep safe.
Hi Mom and Dad, Happy Easter!! Hope you had an amazing day! Just wanted to let you know that you are missed and we love you a lot! We are both very proud of you! We will keep praying that the weather warms up quickly, so you can get back out there!:) Love ya lots!!=:) Chris and Bethany
Thinking of you all the way. Pat/Deb,
Just keep on hiking and passing on the comments., it's just great to follow you on your trek. We are looking forward to getting to the island where the big walk is 150 ft. to the sleeping cabin and the most serious problem is a power outage. (But I have a small generator).

AT (AKA STRIPER) Not sure if sent to right place earlier. Met OD and CC on Trail. Have a
picture of the two I can email. Promised OD I could get him coffee that tastes as good as it smells. Need to know where to send it to. Just arrived home in NYC. Their spirits are high and smiles contagious.
Phone call Mom and Dad... Thanks for the phone call last night. I can finally sleep knowing that you two are doing well and having fun. Make sure that you take your rests and your time. This is not a race but time for your selves. Mom I know this is a different journey for you but don't forget to look and see the different things, because you will wish later you did and feel like you missed out on things. I will send out the brown sugar and more gorp that mom is begging for that she also said she was not going to need nor pig out on. LOL!!!!! She was pretty insisted sounding last night on the phone. I just had to laugh. NOTE: Before my parents left they were at my house in Rochester and we were talking about the gorp, carbs and etc. My mom said that she was not eating alot of that stuff and my father looked at me and said I can guarantee that she will be begging for it because her body will be craving it. She said NO!!! Well, like I said I got that phone call and she said fill up the bags and send more and more licky and chewies :)
Love you both. Keep it up and be strong and enjoy.

1st food box Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know that today 3/28/07, I mailed out my parents first food box to Linden, Va. The weight was 11 lb 7.6 oz. It will feed them for 6 days. I hope you enjoy all of that dehydrated food. It was pretty cool to see how to pack it and also vacuum pack it all. Yes, they were right, there was stuff everywhere and looked like a mess but when it all came together in all of the boxes it made since.
Well, we will be praying for you and hope you both enjoy!!
Love, Micki
PS... Ginger can walk on her two back legs for a few steps and go right into three full spins right in a row. :)

Aunt Renay
My name is Matthew Mooney. I am the proud son of two Appalachian Trail walkers. Pat and Debbie Mooney embarked on this great journey in April 2007. An ankle injury pulled them off early, but they are still plugging away when they have time. It is my duty to keep them in touch with family, friends, and all curious sorts while adding to this journal the many resulting tales. Take your time sorting through the journals of this adventuring couple willing to forge a trail many only dream of. Please submit your thoughts and encouragement; they will be passed on.
