We enjoyed our time in the Las Cruces area. We stayed at Leasburg Dam State Park. The sites include a sheltered picnic table. While in the area we hiked the Leasburg Slot Canyon, visited White Sands National Park, and went to McGinn's Pistachioland. We can't wait to come back to this area in the future as there is still so much more to do in the Las Cruces area. Thanks to Linda and Jamie for hike the slot canyon with us! Next time the Organ Mountains!... read more

We visited the historic town of Bisbee, AZ. This city in the Mule Mountains of southeast Arizona grew after copper was discovered in 1877. Today you can take an underground tour of the vast Queen Mine, look down into the Lavender Pit mine, or stroll the decorated streets of this artist's community. We enjoyed meandering the side streets adorned with art, visiting the Copper Hotel, the Historical Museum, eating lunch at Le Cornucopia Cafe, and checking out vintage Lowell.... read more

After 3 1/2 months in Quartzsite, we began our trek East on April 8th. Our first stop was an West Pinal Park, south of Phoenix. It is not far off the highway and the sites were private and included a covered picnic table and grill. We enjoyed a walk around the park loop and beautiful sunset and sunrise. From there we headed to Benson, AZ. We spent 3 nights at Kartchner Caverns State Park. It was our homebase to explore Bisbee, Lowell, and the caverns. The park is a Dark Sky Park and the star gazing was the best we have seen so far. We took a cave tour, but unfortunately photography is not allowed. You will have to take our word that the tour was worthwhile. The cave tour does not have any stairs, so ... read more

We took a day to drive to Oatman, AZ to explore this old mining town. It began as a small mining camp when 2 prospectors struck a $10 million gold find in the Black Mountains. The town now survives as a nostalgic stop on Route 66 with a western vibe and burros that roam the area.... read more

We camped on BLM land at the south entrance of Joshua Tree National park with our friends Patti, Karl, Stacey, & Walt. We spent 2 days in the park exploring the treasures it has to offer. The Joshua Trees reminded us of something out of a Dr. Seuss book. The rock climbing was so fun. So different from any national park we have been to before.... read more

Patti, Karl, Mike and I spent a Saturday in Lake Havasu City. We enjoyed exploring the area, attending Taylor & Tyler's wedding, and celebrating Karl's birthday. This city on the Colorado River offers watersports, hiking, off-roading, and an opportunity to see the original London Bridge. It was bought by a local businessman and reconstructed in the town. It is a major tourist attraction.... read more

So many lovely hikes in the desert. Some hikes were for the purpose of rock/crystal hunting and others for exercise. You could walk any direction from our RV and take a great hike! The views from the top of mountain peaks are stunning. Our hiking poles are a great aid when hiking rough terrain. Always enjoyable to take a stroll with friends! Here is a sampling of the amazing hikes.... read more
