Austin and Baton Rouge Following the oversized attitude of Dallas, we were definitely ready for two towns like Austin and Baton Rouge. After about a four hour drive from Dallas to Austin, we pulled up to the state capitol building and had our “touristy time.” We walked around the grounds, which were beautiful, and wondered inside, which was just as immaculate. We learned that the capitol building in Austin is 15 feet taller than the U.S. Capitol, which didn’t surprise us, that place was huge! We learned all about the portraits of past governors on the huge wall, and said “Hi” to George Bush’s picture. We got to stand in the middle of the huge dome and clap our hands for a very loud echo. We took a tour of the building and learned a LOT ... read more

Dallas - Keepin it Pretentious We just got done staying 3 nights and 2 days in Dallas with our friend Molly (the hostess with the mostest) and learned a few new things, but mostly that Dallas is the place to be for cougar hunting. We started the trip off right by staying in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Richardson (just outside of Dallas). We woke up to the sound of loud-pitched screaming, the kind that would only come from a kid in a Wal-Mart. I think that is a very appropriate way to wake up if your in a Wal-Mart parking lot. The car proved to be very comfy, but cramped, especially for Matt. He had a few kinks in his neck the next day for me to work out (im such a great girlfriend) We ... read more

Today was our first official day of driving…the doctor said that my eye was still in pretty sad shape, but that we’d be ok if I kept going to doctors on the road every few days. My eye officially hates me, but at least its getting better! I can open it, so that’s always good news. We decided not to go to Tulsa to see Katie and Kelley ☹ we figured it was bad timing, as Katie is sick and Kelley will be very busy, so we’re going to try and make it on the way back. So Dallas here we come!!! 15 hours on the road? No big deal. We started driving at around 10 this morning and made it through Colorado, Oklahoma and are now conquering Texas! (No Marilyn, we didn’t get to Oklahoma ... read more

Our First Day "On The Road" Well, I decided that it would be fun to get a bacterial infection in my cornea yesterday and today!!! Yipeee! So I went to the doctor this morning and he told me there was no way I was leaving the state for 2 months without treating this yeatch. Im going back to see him tomorrow and hopefully he will give us the "OK" to hit the open road. So our first official day of our trip was spent in a dark room (my eyes are sensitive to light) with no TV on (again, my eyes are sensitive to light) and no computer! (you can guess why...) Good times. My eye is feeling much better, however, as we have been dumping prescription eye drops into it all day long...things are looking ... read more
