Hi all, I feel I am writing and sending these blogs into the great unknown because I don't know if they get there or not. Anyway I hope you got my last tale of woe yesterday - the saga continues here and it is all a tale of woe. Bob the prick - continues to drive me up the wall - things came to a head yesterday with a shouting match between us and he called me madam - I reminded him that I was a paying guest who felt robbed. The six other ramblers watched in horror - mouths hanging open , George intervened and in the interest of the others , I have called a truce. I would love to debunk but we are so remote and stuck in this hell hole. I did ... read more

Beteta, We left our nice friendly hotel very reluctantly yesterday, we had another day of intense gallery hopping except it was raining and dull and while we never noticed the pot holes when the sun shone, we were splashed with mud and it was unpleasant dodging puddles. We treated ouselves to an expensive and delicious lunch and felt immediately better. I must mention the night before I went to the Cuban National ballet performance of Swan lake at a theatre close to our hotel. It was memorable - George walked me there and picked me up, I felt very lucky to get a decent seat and enjoyed it immensely. We made our way to meet the ramblers coming in from London at the airport, it is always a bit stressful and we were sad to leave ... read more

We stagged home today both of us with our feet aching - mine were swollen, there were frequent stops for lattes and to look into shop windows, I am amazed at how different the shops in madrid are - all small and individual with quite nice trendy things mostly size 6 - alas. Of course shopping is not my thing really but it is an excuse to loiter. We have had the most marvellous two days in the galleries - walking there via the beautiful Plaza Mayor to see the street scenes. We loved the Carmen Thyssen collection - IT COVERED all periods and just when I had enough of those dour dutch we were on to a different genre. Then a stop for lunch at the Prado - good place to eat and then the ... read more

hi all, We are in the lap of luxury here in london. Maeve was waiting for us at gatwick and whisked us off home - along the way I could see signs for Wisley RHS garden and despite sheer exhaustion I wanted to go in for an hour or two but I was overruled by both maeve and George. England looks lovely and the sun is shining since we came. The flight itself is the usual eternal cramped experience - no air and not a spare seat on the plane. One copes. I managed a nap on Friday, then we went for a long walk around the lanes of south ascot - gorgous houses and gardens and back for a wonderful dinner. Maeve has not let us touch the sink, load the dishwasher or peel a ... read more

Dear Family and Friends, My smart son Derek has just set me up with this blog on my brand new notebook computer and it is coming with me on our travels. You don't have to read my drival but I have put your name down to receive my ramblings as I ramble. I have caught a nasty chest bug from "other son" James and while I've coped with the day to day here I am not in good form. Thank god for such riveting tennis and catching up with Derek and his friends. So I am looking forward to leaving all this behind and setting out on our adventures. The flight alone is going to be a test of endurance . The weather is said to imnprove for the weekend and I'm sure you will all ... read more
