altitude
The bike went surprisingly well. Performance was a little bit down but mainly due to the poor quality fuel. The fuel economy was drastically effected for the better. At sea level we got approx 45mpg to over 60mpg - something to do with the engine management system and it realising there was less oxygen so it delivered less fuel??? Neither of was particularly effected, even when we went from sea level to 4000m in one day. When you climbed 4 flights of stairs in the hotel we were a bit more of of puff than normal. Some people were quite breathless, some had headaches, coughs and couldn't sleep properly. One poor chap was so breathless, nauseous and generally out of it he couldn't ride his bike.

i am curious to know how the bikes performed at altitude, more importantly how did you feel or was it just a gradual intro.

Changed ideas
Definetly never expected Colombia to be as you have described..........think of it, erronously I now realise, as overun by drug barons and armed police and military. and therefore has always felt somewhere to avoid.......... but not now. Travel, even second hand or by proxy ,opens ones eyes......... many thanks, David

We're so envious as we read your blog. All the more so because your writing is so evocative - and the phots are great, especially the one of Indiana Jones. honduras
Hi tupela, looks like you are having a fantastic time while we chill out here in gales and rainstorms! fortunately they seem to be hitting Cumbria at present. We shouldn't complain really as we are just back from the warm wet of Kerala - I'm confused as to whether we hit the end of the last monsoon season or the beginnings of the next one, but we had some entertainment waiting for flooding across a road to go down so our air-conditioned coach could get through. We enjoyed it so much and we have a 6 month multiple entry visa so we are going back again in March to Rajastan. Meanwhile Christmas. Look forward to more of your blogs they are certainly entertaining and the photots are excellent. lov Carol and James
