We have been Portugal for the past few days working and it has been a great experience. We stayed in Lisbon on Monday night and met a friend, Eliza, for dinner and drinks. The next day we met with one of our business associates, Jorge, and drove to the southern most area in Portugal called Algarve. The city we stayed in was called Faro and because the summer season was over the area was pretty empty. It is unbelievable the mass amounts of seafood consumed here…For lunch I had some large shrimp…It gave a new meaning to “peel and eat”, because the entire body of the shrimp was still intact…They were staring at me as if to say, “Don’t eat me”…I was trying not to gag but ended up really enjoying the little creatures…After lunch we ... read more

Well...in a whirl wind of 3 days and 2 nights we flew through Barcelona...We arrived to some chilly, rainy weather only to realize that I had forgotten to write down the number of the hostel...so after trekking around in the rain and asking different shop owners we finally found it...People in Barcelona are really friendly...especially the cab drivers...more on that later...we got changed and walked to Sagrada Familia one of Gaudi's masterpieces...on the way we stopped in for a sandwich...the church was closed but from the outside it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen...ever...Gaudi died before it was finished and so it's supposed to be completed by 2020...after the church we returned to our hostel and got ready to go out...we met a bunch of cool people and celebrated Elizabeth's birthday at ... read more

So after 19 hours of travel we arrived in Lisbon, Portugal...With the amount time on planes and in airport terminals, Elizabeth and I have started to rate each location...So far Sao Paulo is the worst airport I have ever encountered and TAM airlines provided one of the best in flight experience...anywhere that gives you carmel candies on take off gets an instant high rating in my book...Lisbon is an awesome city which was made even more fun by the hostel we stayed in...Traveller´s House...After trekking around with our 50 pound packs we finally found it...We met some awesome people some of which we have made plans to see in various locations....New Zealand and Sydney to be precise...One of the days we went Caiscais which is a small beach town and layed out all day...We are definitely ... read more

So Elizabeth and I are sitting at the aeropuerto awaiting another LONG travel experience...Our flight departs from Santiago...lays over in Sao Paulo...lays over in Madrid...and finally we arrive in Portugal...The rest of our time in La Serena was great...We were spending so much time at Werner and Maria's that they invited us to stay in their guest room...It also had a full view of the ocean...and one of the most heavenly beds I have ever slept in...They have 3 kids...Nicko, Simone and Kahlina...They all speak English, Bulgarian and Spanish...(pretty smart...I never knew a 2, 4 and 6 year old could make me feel so inadequate)...Maria spoiled us rotten with some awesome food...It definitely eased us into our adventure...During the weekend we went to the beach and stayed around the golf course where Maria and Werner live...It ... read more

Hey everybody...So after 21 hours of travel time and going through 4 countries we made it to Santiago, Chile...Our travel agent neglected to mention that we were flying from LAX to Costa Rica to Peru and then finally to our destination in Santiago...We arrived at 2am totally wiped out from our journey (although Lacsa TACA airlines had very impressive food and free wine) and took a shuttle to the city center to stay in a hotel for the night...The night door man at the hotel some how talked us into a suite for $5 extra dollars...We thought, "Hey, why not?"...Turns out our suite was made to sleep five and the extra perk was 3 single beds and 1 full...However, I have never been soooo happy to have a hot shower...The next day reminded me of how ... read more
