Loarre Castle
Jen, enjoying reading about your latest trip but couldn't help but think that the picture of Loarre Castle overlooking the plains was so reminiscent of Bolsover Castle, overlooking the plains across Staveley, Clay Cross and to the distant Peak District. So far for a similar view, NOT! It is early on a grey Wednesday morning here though so my eyes may not be focusing that well. I'm sure the views you're experiencing down there bear no resemblance to those from Bolsover :) One other point, St Cyr brought back happy memories to Jill and I, we have also stayed by the beach there.

Loarre
Hi both we are sweltering in 33 degree heat here in the wild west town of El Rocio. All that is missing is John Wayne and his oss . Hope you are both well.

Taking the Plunge!!
We took the plunge - sold our house in Bristol and bought a bungalow on outskirts of Newport that needed total renovation including a new garden!! It was hard work, was homeless for 6 months, did the bungalow one year and garden this year! Now I love it and its all up together when I get back from travelling!! We are currently in Spain!!

House-hunting
Good luck with your search!! We downsized from a 3 bed house in Bristol to a 2 bed bungalow in South Wales that needed renovating!! Hard work, but good fun!

house hunting
Think its going to be long job :( Nothing works at the moment - too many compromises. Looking forward to getting in the motorhome and getting away instead

Yes -watching people die isn't easy, Hopefully it will be over soon. Why do they keep people alive when there is no quality of life and its terminal. Don't start me on that one!! We have just come back from 6 days in Stockholm, Sweden but I think we will base ourselves in the UK until Sept when we are off to Spain again! We are having the garden landscaped (it still looks like a builders yard!!) starting Monday, skip was delivered today so quite excited about having a garden again!! We also have an allotment so its lots of soup making, vegetables, fruit, watering through the summer etc, etc

France
With pancreatic cancer, I have not known anyone live longer than 6 months. Its normally been about 4 months :-( Just try and enjoy the time you have left with here - it must be quite difficult for you both. Then afterwards you can go on holiday :-)))

holidays
Hi I think she probably has had it for over 2 years as they kept trying to find out why she was losing weight. 3 stone loss over two years. Eventually 10 weeks ago we got the diagnosis. The hospice are brilliant as are Helens Trust and Marie Curie. She does not have much quality of life at the moment having taken to her bed. She eats little and is still losing weight. Mum had bowel cancer and that was awful to watch. We find ourselves wishing it were all over for her sake as much as our own. Where are you off to next?

France
Hope you got home ok and in time? I remember being in France many years ago in a similar situation....Doesn't make for an easy holiday but you seemed to have enjoyed your time in France! Look forward to reading about your next adventure!

Lazarus
Yes we did get back. Mother in law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given 12 weeks to live . That was 9 weeks ago and she has care in four times a day and through the night . She is like Lazarus and has risen from the almost dead to completely well again. She is driving us insane and wonder how long it will go on for. We will probably peg it before she does !!!!! We might not even get a next holiday the way things are going :(

Planning of my Via Francigena pilrimage to Rome...
is nearly complete. I'm flying to California from 4-7 May to visit my son who will be accompanying me to finalize plans. He likes to put things off and I likely to make arrangements quickly as airlines and hotels book up in popular locations.

your trip
How lovely it will be to have company on the trip. I take it this will be Will. I would love to see California - the Golden Gate bridge always looks wonderful. Keep safe on your travels

Fairytale Castles
There is something about castles that fascinates me too, Jennifer. Yet I only recall seeing them in Ethiopia and Bolivia, which were complete surprises. Something to look forward to if we ever hit Europe by the look of it.
