I want!
Hong Kong is so international--you are so lucky! And I feel your pain of those first years--for me, I was in places where these treats just weren't available. I've been traveling in South America for four years and am now in Arequipa, Peru, with supermarkets with real cheese, Walker's Scottish shortbread cookies, rye bread and German Ritter Sport chocolates. Massively expensive, but I'm in food heaven. If I ever do as you, and go ex-pat, I want these familiar treats--major yum!

Thanks for your comment!
Gracias Taracloud! I'd love to go to South America again - I've only visited Argentina. How do you manage to travel for four years?! My next holiday is actually back to the UK so I can stock up on all those home treats! Buen viaje! JHG

Learning coordinates
You make a good point I guess we are good at coordinates. We don't think about it. NYC is so amazing. Not like the "real U.S.A." and yet it is. Glad you took in a spinning class. How wonderful. And jazz....perfect! You are doing the city right. Good for you! 5 days is not enough please come back.

Thanks!
Thank you for all your comments - much appreciated. I certainly will be back! I had a great trip, and I felt like I left so much uncovered! The parts beyond the tourism!

Other senses become heightened
What a great experience you've had communicating without words. A challenge I'm sure but it has made you more aware. Great story. Sounds like it did not keep you from enjoying Hong Kong. Looking forward to more.

I used to be a frequent visitor to HK...
My in-laws lived at Repulse Bay. That was some years ago and I know there have been many changes, but your interesting and well-observed photos bring back some happy memories.

Vic Falls
Thank you for bringing back some great memories ... Despite being from Germany I also stayed at Fawlty Towers. I agree with you, the trip to Livingstone Island and finding yourself sitting on the edge of the falls must rate as one of the most amazing things to do. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
