Woke up too early - 7.30am!! Laid in bed thinking: 1 Realised that beer is actually fairly expensive in Vegas - a beer costing $6 = £3!!! Hostel is $3 a bottle - better, but still not cheap! 2 I also decided I definitely need a watch! With no mobile phone on me (no need if it doesn’t work in US). 3 Also thought about how I had travelled so far from Oxford and met a Guy called Steve from Botley, Oxford. He said he often drives through Yarnton on the A44 to see his parents. Made me think about all those hundreds of people that pass you everyday on your way to work, etc and how he could have driven past me on the A44 without either us having a thought about one day meeting ... read more

Today was 'Canyon Day'- I was going to be flown to the Canyon by plane, get into a chopper to be flown into the Canyon and then take a boat up the Colorado River and then reverse to get home. I was really looking forward to it, and at $300 it was a good price! I got picked up from the hostel and taken to a nearby airport. Looked a bit overcast, maybe even threatening rain and I hadn't packed waterproofs for my day outside at the Grand Canyon :-( Really must try and check weather forecasts! Had a cheesy photo taken of me and the pilot stood next to our 'ride' to the Canyon. Had no intention of wasting my money on it so didn't beam with enthusiasm as they took the photo... (Which was ... read more

After a really long day before (27 hours awake) I was woke up about 7am by a room mate coming back from a night on the strip... Who then snored... Got out of bed 9am... feeling pretty tired still. But the snoring was still on-going and the heat was starting to overcome the air-con. Made myself a 'free pancake', which I made too thick - so threw away after one bite! Then I went and booked my Grand Canyon trip for the next morning: pick up from the hostel, taken to an airstrip, flown by light plane to the Canyon, taken in to the Canyon by helicopter, put on a boat that goes up the Colorado river and then after some food, reversed. Really looking forward to it, despite the 150 pound price tag. Before I ... read more

Wow - what a strange few days... From stressing my ar5e off, to trying to get everything packed to saying goodbye to people (without it really kicking-in how long it will be) to suddenly being on a plane following the sun, staying awake for over 24 hours... Really screwed with my head! Still not really kicked in! I was up at 7am. Then after a goodbye (trying to hold back the upset) I leave the UK on a Boeing 747 at 12pm. I fly 6000 thousand miles, watch three movies and land at 2pm... LOL Damn timezone crap - really messes with my head! The flight alone was amazing though! The food was very good, so were the film/TV choices, but the best bit by far was the views. It was mostly clear blue skys for ... read more
