great pictures so happy to see these pictures of you, schneider. i have been missing you like crazy realizing that i won't get to see you on monday. still, im very glad to see how happy you look and seeing that youre enjoying life and your travels. love you very much =D
Happy Belated Birthday! Mon cher ami,
Someone had the good sense to subscribe me to your website (was it you or Jer?) and I came for my first visit ever. Quelle aventure! The onslaught to the senses must be absolutely remarkable. It is so good to see you thoroughly enjoying yourself and learning new things everyday.
I love the photographs and captions in particular. You are looking fit and happy and just seeing you like that reminds me of so many happy times with friends in sunny Belle Meade. I am glad that Pepper would have met the Chinese regulations size-wise, but I can't help thinking she would have attracted attention for quite another reason. Think looking a a live turkey and seeing a nicely dressed, roasted one ready for the table. I loved her dearly, but that dog was fat!
Speaking of much loved pets, my own Mango bit me the other morning and I had to get a tetanus shot! Totally my fault; I was harassing him by blowing in his face. Guess he showed me.
I have read back to your birthday entry (certainly a warm, wonderful event and quite a shock to see you imbibing a glass of wine; was it local or imported?) and your mention of that much loved elderly couple we both know. It was good to have even indirect news of them and I am forthwith going to write and get them UTD on events here in Christchurch. Don't forget your intention to spend Christmas in New Zealand! We be soooo disappointed if that doesn't pan out.
Bon voyage!
Good for you! Hans, I found out from Leo, Steph and Checho about your China adventure, and I'm so glad for you! We spent a month in China twenty years ago- I know that everything has changed much since then. I loved your blog and your pictures, and I'm happy you are enjoying retirement. Paul and I are still happily retired- poor, but free. : ) We volunteer at Fairchild Garden twice a week with 3rd and 4th graders, are still active in environmental organizations, take guitar lessons, and are still kayaking, biking and snorkeling. Life is good! We also rent out rooms to U.M. graduate students at my mother's house, which I inherited. We have met some wonderful and interesting young people, among them a couple of Chinese guys. One of them Jiahua Han, (Jim), became a very close friend. We learned a lot from him about his country and his people.
My e-mail is: wekayak@bellsouth.net- I'd love to hear from you!
Hugs!
Coky
Hey Schneider! How's it going? I love the pictures you take. They're really amazing. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I got my AP scores back and that I passed german with a 3. Thanks for all the help. I couldn't have done it without you.

happy belated, belated, belated birthday dear hans,we just got back from our trip to the mountains in south carolina. after reading about your advantures, I'm not so sure how interesting our two week stay in a 7 bedroom family cabin would sound. I do know howerver that compared to what your doing my life seems extremely uneventful. I sometimes think of school, but most of the time I'm glad I'm not there. Keep sending me your thoughts and experiences adout china it's totally captivating.
UNCLAIMED MONEY Hans, thanks for all the wonderful details in regards to your travels after retirement. I was talking at school about your"detention" with some of the secretaries in the main office who were unaware of this site. Donna later told me that you need to get in touch with her because there is a check there for you that they are sure, you are unaware of. Try to send her an email or get back to my email address
but there is MONEY FOR YOU, and you do not want it to go back into the system. jacklamb
yummy hey schneider!!!! how about trying those chicken feet??? lol they might not be as bad as you think, its just the whole "getting over the fact that your eating chicken feet" thing....i think its amazing how resourceful they are with the food they eat; since especially here in america so much food is wasted. maybe one day you'll get the guts to try those chicken feet...take my advice, they're not as bad as you think ;-) PS: try the darker looking ones hehehehe
Hey Schneider, those chicken claws sure look tasty *cough, cough*. Anyways its funny how you just got your residency over there because i just spent last friday helping my brother in law get his permanent residency. Sounds like you are going to the summer Olympics and that is so COOL! You lucky you...Keep having fun and learning...ciao
that's great that you got your visa!! Since you mentioned that concert hall, did you know that in September the Ziff Opera House will open? It's right there in downtown (the Omni area) and I'm totally excited!

sehenswurdigkeit <-- coolest german word ever
After 38 years as a Foreign Language Teacher and Foreign Language Dept. Chair at Coral Gables Sr. H.S., and A.J. Professor of German at the University of Miami, I have left Florida in June of 2006, where my home is in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. I have just signed another year's teaching-contract (my 8th year now) with Taizhou University in the city of Taizhou, located about 3hrs north of Shanghai, in Jiangsu Province, CHINA.
I thought it would be informative for others and rewarding for me personally, to log the progress of my efforts from beginning to end, as a Travel and Photo Jo... full info
