Our Final Days So we were off in the morning with a bit of a late start to head to Zambia after our trip to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe was cancelled. We spent about 3 hours waiting in line to get on a ferry the cross the Zambizi River. What a cluster. Finally got visa, which was a surprise cost at $135, and we were off to Livingstone, Zambia. We arrived a bit too late to do any activities. Chester had her small meltdown when we were advised there were no hotels/chalets available and we would be spending our last 2 nights in a tent, which we really did not want to do. All travel companies were advised to not go into Zimbabwe due to the elections. So Zambia is completely full and again no hot showers. ... read more

Animals, they're everywhere, they're everywhere So after 3 days in the Delta with no immenities i.e. water, toilets, showers etc we headed to Chobeo National Park in Botswana for our last night in Botswana. By this time in the trip patience is running a bit short and a few meltdowns happened (Kirsten and Chester). 3 weeks of putting up and taking down tents repacking and sitting on a bus can get to you , not to mention no hot showers for the last week. But after we got out tents up we were off on a boat cruise on the river that no one was really interested in. Much to our surpirse, it was one of the best 3 hours we spent. We saw every animal there was except a lion. Starting with Baboons and Kudus. ... read more

Hippo Sighting After a frigid final night in Namibia ( everyone woke up comparing how they had spent the night trying to form a breathing hole around their face because they couldn't expose skin to the air) we crossed over into Botswana. This seems to be a much poorer and rural country than Namibia. Lots of traditional huts, livestock roaming around freely, roadside phone and haircut stalls. On Tuesday morning we took an hour long 4 wheel ride from Maun to the Delta. We loaded all of our tents, sleeping pads, day packs, and food for 10 onto mokoro boats- traditional dugout boats and headed into the bush. Each mokoro had 2 passangers and one poler- these are some strong guys!!! We had a relaxing float though the channels- well relaxing for us- the polers were ... read more

Headed into the Bush Hello all, we are headed into the Bush of the Botswana Delta. This is going to be quite the adventure. Tomorrow we will canoe into the Delta with just our day backpacks and toilet paper. Charles, our fearless leader, has been holding back on some important information concerning our next two days in the bush. It has been cold in the morning but it heats up quickly during the day. The bugs have not have been that bad, but I have a sinking feeling that is about to change. The past several days have been filled with game drives through Etosha Park in Nabimbia. We have seen a ton of different animals. So far we have seen elephants, giraffes, zebras, spring bok, oryx, rhinos, porcipines, lepards, cheetah, wart hogs, merkats, baboons, hords ... read more

Photos to follow So Kirsten made it back and just typed up her expereince and we were hoping to download some photos while we are here. However, the internet cafe closed on us so we are now using the lodge's crappy internet cafe and they won't let us download any photos. Bummer. Give us a few more days and hopefully we can get to another civilized city and add more entries and pictures. We are all doing well and not starving to death. We are eating 3 meals a day, mostly prepared by our guides. Breakfasts are easy, cereal, fruit, toast. Lunches are canned meat. We have had SPAM, salami, Texas Meat Surprise, bologna, lots of mystery meat, but the cheeses have kept us regular. Dinners have been mostly at restuarants or the campsite. Both of ... read more

I Jumped OUT of An Airplane I just got back from one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I did a tamdem sky dive in Namibia. Not nervous at all. But had to tell my tandem jumper that this has to be the only job in the world that he tell a girl to sit on his lap and not get slapped for it. It was amazing. Feeling like you are floating on air. Nothing scary at all untill I landed. Than had to go to the bar and start doing Jagermeister shots. That was more scary that the sky diving. Really nice guys who all hate the Germans. If anyone has the opportunity, I highly recommend it. I think I have found my next very expensive leisure activity. A bit of perspective from ... read more

Greetings everyone from Africa. We are sorry it has taken us so long to get in touch. We have not had the opportunity to get online or even find an internet cafe until now. Where do we begin? The tour is very well organized and planned. We have three guides, one in training, and 11 total tourists. It is a good group of people: 2 Dutch girls, a British couple, a father and son from the states, 2 other American girls and us. Little did we know that when we said we will be Charlie's Angels, that our main guide is named "Charles". Perfect, in fact yesterday morning when we woke up and got out of our tents, he greeted us with, "Morning Angels!" So far we have covered about 1000 km, someone is the ... read more

Charlie's Angels Africa Safari Travel Itinerary Well, this is the kick-off of our travel blog. Kirsten, Ann (Chester) and Lynn, AKA Charlie’s Angels, will be traveling soon through South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe on a 21 day safari. Yes, we know we don’t exactly look like the original angels, but the years have taken a toll on them. Our intent is to try and do a travel blog along the way to share with our friends and family our latest adventures, mishaps (of which I'm sure there will be plenty) and general travel humor that we always seem to find. We can't promise a daily update, but will do our best when we find internet cafes to upload photos and tell you some of our stories. The tour is a camping trip with partial participation. ... read more
