Given the huge numbers of UK residentswho wanted to attend a competition but did not get even a single ticket to thegames I wondered if the streets will be packed with spectators. To ensure thatI get a front row standing spot I left the residence hall at 9:15 am andarrived at my spot at 9:45 which is one and one-hours before the runners willspeed past this location. This spot is near Waterloo Bridge and VictoriaEmbankment and was selected because it is near the Brazilian national pavilionCasa Brazil. Photographs of places thatI have visited and of persons that I have met sustain my memories longer thanany key chain, pennant, sweater, coffee mug, or other trinket can. This is eventruer of the London Olympics where the mascot is a single eyed creature thatlooks like an oversized thumb and where the logo is a map of Londonbroken into four pieces.
