Good morning from Santorini It's another perfect morning here on the Greek island but unfortunately we are heading back to the UK today flying out at midday so our time here has come to an end. We then only have 1 more full day before flying back to Oz so our trip has nearly come to an end and it has been absolutely fantastic. We have spent the last 3 days in Santorini with our wonderful friends Katherine and Bryan and have had a ball even though we have eaten our fair share of Greek salad with feta cheese and tzatziki!! So back to the UK by 3.30pm staying at the Crown Plaza in St James, just around the corner from Lizzies place! Then we have an early morning start for our whirlwind day trip to ... read more

Yassou! Or G'day in Oz, we are now enjoying the liveliest of weather and locations on Paradise Island called Santorini, it is absolutely stunning. We arrive in the early hours of Saturday morning after a 3 hour plane trip to Athens leaving Heathrow at 10pm and landing in Athens their time at 4am! Then a short 30 minute flight to Santorini, unfortunately it was still dark coming into land so we couldn't see the true beauty of the place. We were picked up by our host of the villa we are renting and woke Katherine and Bryan up. The villa was superb, authentic white stone cave with a balcony overlooking the ocean. We had a very relaxed 1st day exploring the island in our rental car, then a beautiful dinner in the local traverna eating some ... read more

Hello to you all Well it is our last night in the English countryside tonight before we head to Heathrow tomorrow afternoon to fly out to Santorini tomorrow night leaving at 10pm and not arriving until 6am local time, so sleeping on the plane for us! We had a good day today driving through the Oxfordshire countrside, stopping at a famous village called Woodstock, yes to those who would remember the place of the festival in the 70's! We also visited Blenheim Palace, the birth home of Sir Winston Churchill, very fascinating and just a huge house, we just did the gardens which were beautiful and gave us some inspiration for 'Rob Roy'!! We are staying the night in a small village 20 miles outside of Oxford in another lovely British pub called the Queens Arms. ... read more

G'day Well the sun is shining this morning as I'm sitting out in a beautiful garden of the B&B we are staying at called 'The Old Manor House' just outside Stratford-upon-Avon. The house dates back to 1550 & it's just remarkable that we are actually staying in somewhere that is that old! We arrived in Stratford yesterday lunch time after another night in South Wales, then over the border back into England. Unfortunately the rain just hasn't stopped so it was nice to wake up this morning to some sunshine. We are taking an easy morning before heading out for a drive into the Cotswolds, Chipping Camden, Stow-on-the-wold and other interesting names. Last night we had a fantastic night at the Royal Shakespeare theatre watching Macbeth, wow it was absolutely brilliant. The home of Shakespeare of ... read more

Hello from Wales Another few days have passed since the last blog and we are now in North Wales in a lovely little village set in the mountains near Snowdonia so it is quite cold and very rainy!! We arrived yesterday afternoon after a lovely couple of days in the Peak District, Derbyshire in a village called Asford-in - water, beautiful countryside, not that we have seen any that isn't, we even did a 18 mile push bike ride along an old dis-used railway line to blow a few cobwebs away and hopefully shed a few extra pounds!! We met up with Katherine and Bryan yesterday at Betwsy and because of the rain we found ourselves at the nearest pub catching up on what we had been doing over the last week over a few ales ... read more

Hello Well 2 weeks have passed already, we can surely say that the days aren't going by too quickly but trying to think back on what we have done so far is sometimes a bit of a blur.......probably due to the many pints of beer! It is interesting that not only in each town/village but even pubs within them have their own beer on tap so we have been trying out the local in each pub just to support them, we had a pint last night in a pub in York called the 'Mason Arms' that was selling ' Black Sheep' bitter that came in a very nice pint glass that we just had to take as a souvenir!! I had roast pork and Yorkshire pudding, lashings of gravy and veg, yum, I fear that my ... read more

Hello to you all It's been a few days since the last blog as we didn't have any Internet at the Lake District so there is a bit to write in this message. First off with uploading photos I can only do that with a computer and not mu iPad so i will try to upload quite a few tomorrow using the computer in the. B&B we are staying at. We had a great night in Blackpool even though it was only for 1 night, what a blast from the past even though it is looking a bit old and tired, just meeting up with my friend Katherine and her partner Bryan topped it off, we went out at night along the sea front and had a lovely night. Next day a bit bleary eyed we ... read more

We've now made it to Blackpool, where I used to live 25 years ago, it now seems so small but I suppose I was younger/smaller then! It was fantastic meeting up with Katherine and Bryan and we had a walk down to the sea front last night and a wonderful dinner out, checking out the sights and the illuminations, certainly a blast from the past for me and good to show Ged where I used to live! Still trying to work out how to upload some photos and having some difficulties but will keep trying. Spoke to Mum and Dad on our night out last night while we were travelling along the prom on a tram, Dad used to work on the trams, but we were a bit disapointed that by the time we got on ... read more
