We woke to the most amazing view, unfortunately we had to get going quickly as we had to deliver the tents into town. It was such a glorious day it was worth it though as we arrived at the Gondola before it got busy. Theo took off immediately and Nate was quite happy to do his first solo run. Finn loved riding along and was amazingly co-operative. The twins were quite content to crawl around in the sun and charm the tourists so I got to relax a bit. My turn for a run while Steve gave the twins an early lunch. I got a nice smooth cart so had a lovely run down. My second run we did the intermediate track but Nate wanted to do the Scenic track by himself. I waited for him ... read more

A busy day for hubby resulted in a later than planned exit from Auckland. The purpose of this trip was to deliver all the scout tents to Rotorua for repair, the benefit to us was a holiday :) we had no idea where we were going or what the bach would be like. One of my favourite types of holiday. So despite a late start and not finishing loading the trailer until after 6pm we started on our trip. Our initial problem was a major traffic jam at our offramp, 5 cars had been silly and caused us almost an hours delay! The kids coped ok, a few squarks from the twins and grumbles from the big boys but soon enough we were underway. To my surprise even the big boys fell asleep even before we ... read more

In one more week I should know the park hours for Disneyland while we are there. I'm still trying to arrange where we go on which day. I still think a sightseeing trip on the Tursday will be the way to go. I had Lasik the other day and realised how tired I get from things that push my system. I need to allow downtime while still trying to fit in everything we want to do. I don't see this as being easy. My minds eye of what I can do and fit in seems to be much bigger than my body's capacity to cope. I don't want to be the mother that crashes on her holiday and affects the boys first major trip. It's balance, something I have never been good at, I tend to ... read more

So for a true travel novice how do you plan an ultimate world trip? I mean seriously, I've been to Australia a few times and the Cook Islands once as a teenager. I have never travelled the world, neither has my husband. We haven't a clue as to how to start and our curiosity levels were high. So this started as a one week trip to Canada, then once we realised we may be able to leave the younger kids we thought maybe we will take the older two to LA Disneyland. My husbands sister then contacted us to say why not add London? At this stage it was beginning to become the trip of a lifetime so why not. This is where it began to get complicated and our lovely travel agent Joanna began to ... read more

This is a trial blog, I've never done one before. My plan is to blog our trip so I don't overwhelm my Facebook wall with stories of our trip. Since this is mainly for me I plan on including all my planning joy, as well as lots of photos and our experiences. I am still majorly in the planning phase and I love it. I have enlisted the help of a lovely travel agent who is an expert in family travel and especially Disney. I am still trying to plan a great deal of the trip itself. At the beginning of this year we had no plans for a trip, but then we had no plans for any of the major changes that have occurred this year. It has been a year of surprises, developments and ... read more
