It all sounds dreamlike...The photos are great...I'm looking forward to you bringing some excitement to Switzerland - perhaps they will employ you for writing their tourist brochures...people would come flocking... xxx Nell

get some anthisan
I've had a near-death time with moszy bites in Italy...the only thing is to get some Anthisan cream, or the like. active ingredients: mepyramine maleate 2%other ing. methylhydroxybenzoate, ceto-steryl alcohol, polyethyline glycol 600 monostereate, castor oil, foin coupe, silicone antifoam, purified water. Now show that to the farmacia and accept nothing less....they tried to fob me off with a pathetic lotion after I'd queued for ages behind all the drug-addicts in Turin...... Glad you've made it into the sea, hope you find your way out again. Lots of love PS I'm sending you an email Mub

Will be great to see your video of All I want is U(kelele)...you could record parts in Italy, and parts in the Alps and Hungary...would be great to make one video out of later :) (I can envision Italian sharks swimming by, cow bells ringing, and your language class joining in for the choiry bits...sorry...I'm getting a bit carried away now...)

Fun!
I love this line: "...viking family (they looked and sounded nordic with about 14 kids with blond hair and the parents all had beards and gnawed on bones)."

I would gladly smother myself in toothpaste and onion juice - these bites are horrible. I've been using antihystemine cream rather lavishly... Ciao ma petite champignon! Cx

Asterix sandals would be pretty cool but not terribly suitable for the rocky terrain. Hope all's well with the kiddo and wifo! By the way I need to organise the next ukulele Sunday... let me know a good Sunday in Sept or Oct (I know you're moving house, but we're very easy!) cx

Hi Rufus, I'm glad you approve of the footwear... Birkensocks would be a step too far (cha cha boom!) and as for drinking up all that wine it would have got very messy, you haven't seen these cliffs. I still think I did the right thing! Cx

Death to les moustiques
Clare! How amazing. Moment before reading today's post I recklessly ended a mosquito's life in our very own bathroom. So those tiny Italians ones are ferocious, eh? It's like being attacked by piranhas. I hope you're resisting the temptation to scratch yourself too much. I found this website that suggests you rub a piece of freshly-cut onion on the bite for a soothing effect. You might not want to try that though. A dab of toothpaste works too, apparently? Oh, and your pictures are quite nice :) Take care mon cachou, and go pesto x

Rocky outcrops
I love the pictures and well done on sandal choice. I remember pleading to mum to get me some Asterix style sandals, I'm glad she couldn't find any. Have a great rest of journey. Lots of love Robin

Top manboots! If you rellay want the whole German lesbian image, go for mannish Birkies. And you should really have finished the booze - a gorl needs her sustenance. Waiting with bated breath for the next instalment. X

Hey Sarah, Good to hear from you - hope you had a fab time in fab France! I'm mighty sad you have no Harry Potter puns for me - can you hear my world crashing about my feet? Look forward to catching up sometime in September... Cx

Uh?
Hey Clare! I came back from France yesterday night and just started reading your blog and I love it. I can totally picture you on a hill playing the ukulele and singing and stretching your toenails in mens sandals. Maybe not at the exact same time. I am sorry about the whole (de shite) Gare de Lyon experience, by the way. It's not the best place to hang around. Still, it's good to hear from you and to know you're ok, finding your way around and not falling in or being pushed in cliffs. A couple of days ago you wrote that you woke up feeling incredibly happy, and reading this made me feel very happy because I felt very happy for you. I'd also like to point out that you've got my personal seal of approval re the second breakfast thing. Well that's all for now. I wish I could end this up with one of my infamous Harry Potter jokes but you'll be relieved to know that after only a couple of them my inspiration dried up. This really is a sad world, I'm telling you. Sarah x x PS: when you're back I'll teach you some rude vegetarian French.

No tennis balls, however I have found throwing tourists off cliffs relieves some of the tension... Cx

Thanks Patsy, will try to sort out a video - I almost recorded one yesterday but chickened out. I've not done a video yet, so it might be rubbish, but as long as I get the view right... Cx

Thanks Hilke! I didn't realise you'd been this way as well! It is a bit touristy, but I just keep pushing them off the cliffs when nobody's watching and they seem to be thinning out! How are the cakes - I've not had any since our last cake day in the office. Cx
