New Country, New expectations. I am surprised by the fact that you are surprised by Marks reaction, it may have been better for your state of mind and Marks prospects of living for the next few days, if you had avoided any major city in Japan or avoided the entire country all togrther :p.
Ceri Ceri Ceri, to wear not only odd socks but tatty, barely there odd socks, it must have been horryfying for you to take off your shoes. At least it teaches you to wear you best foot wear at all times in Japan.
Have a great time and nice weather. Az
Adventures It is good to know that the further you go the better the transport becomes, three whole seatbelts WOW, lol.
It looks like an interesting place but i think if it was brighter you would of been blinded by all the reflected sunlight in the water, so whilst rain isn't the best, bright light would be worse.
Keep the explorations going.
Amazing Maybe joining you two for the shanghai leg of the journey would have been a better idea. Beijing was great, but your description of shanghai and the images have me really wanting to see the sights for myself.
You are cruel to show off how much fun you are having and the grat sights you are seeing.
P.S I am sorry Mark but i don't see what is so great about the Pearl tower. It just looks weird to me.
Osaka Hey! good luck trying to get Mark to leave! have you been to the bit where the Harajuku girls are yet? I forget what its called but it's like up to the minute fashion paradise, for your sake I hope you find an arty cool Ceri shop soon, so you can get your own back on Mark! and odd socks are cool, tho slightly embarassing if you are sitting in a board meeting! Oh and eat Pocky ? I think thats what its called, little sweet bread sticks covered in various coatings like banana, chocolate, strawberry etc! Have fun! :)
Just wait . . . . . . until Mark sees Akihabara! I think you should both write up that day - I suspect differing points of view LOL. One positive is that I found the really slow post home from Japan wasn't too pricey (think I paid £25 for a proper big box with some books as well as some lighter things), so if Mark does buy some stuff it's not the end of the world. Takes a couple of months to arrive, but you'll still be on the road anyway.
Of course I haven't forgotten your birthday is coming up - the date has been programmed into my head over the past 4 years! What are you planning to do? Where will you be?
Veh'nice little town. That picture of Ceri with her hood up... page 54 Observers Book of Clerics 'The Nuns of the Dark Dragon Cult!'
Did Zhujiajiao smell like Venice? The pictures seem to hold an essence of a China that I imagine, the slightly concaved rooves, those little wooden boats, the strange Nun. Both your photographic and written works are beginning to capture me!
I'm glad that you made the most of your opportunity and didn't spend your time in such a wonderful place eating a bargain bucket of The Colonels American Spicy Quorn and Curly Fries!
I'm with the 'Ruler Of All That Is Not Light.' it's not often I say this... but Ceri, you're wrong and Mark's right! That tower looks cool! I'm also struck by the double dragon headed catamaran pagoda thingy - (Sorry Deborah my discriptive writing doesn't quite hit the Ceri standard!).
You must be glad that your Mother dragged you up in Manchester Ceri, well prepared for torrential rain! Glad you're better now and not wallowing in whatever it was you were wallowing in at the hostel!
you know . . . you have a real talent for description. You're a great writer! Why not become a travel writer?
Sounds absolutely beautiful there - am really glad you're enjoying it.
hey! hey guys! hope ur feelin bettr soon...no tym to b ill, u stil hav loads to c. hey ceri, guess what i was readin las nyt? my leavers book from high school! how i miss those days, minus the last few weeks...lol. im missin u now, n i'l b celebratin my b'day on my own dis year, cos ur not even here! : (
get well soon! You poor things. Take care!
I got sick on the way back from Egypt - that was a fun journey. Have just moved into my new flat this morning - room is small, so can't fit everything in! And totally different system to what I'm used to - she's used to sharing everything in the kitchen and so on. Think we're going to compromise. Kitchen is tiny and not exactly clean or tidy. Still, will doubtless improve as I get more settled.
Ok, rant over! Hope you do feel better soon.
Happy Valentines Day Glad you are starting to feel better - Mark didn't say if both of you were ill - but I just wanted to give you both a big hug. Just get better so we can enjoy more of your pics and your journey.
Love Mumxxxxx
A New Game! Shanghai Charades! I would really liked to have been a fly on the wall in the Chemists! Heh Heh! I'll name that illness in one!
Get Well Soon... and Thanks for the Chocolates Ceri... You really shouldn't have sent them all the way from China! Happy Valentines Day to You too!
Oooh... It's Virus and a Bacteria... First and second syllables...sounds like... 'Briar'...
IT'S.... That picture of Mark and The Buddahs foot... very Pythonesque.
Jealous? Jealous? PAH! We can build Snowmen all you can do is watch Dark Mark hide from the withering Sun or plait fog!
These places look fantastic, I am actually a tad on the green with envy side, but I ain't gonna own up to it!
Jealous? PAH!
Get some dinner down you!
Chilled Out It looks a wonderful place to chillout, a Hollands Steak Pie Breeding Pond. Hope you took your Observers Book of Clerics. Doesn't Mark turn to ash if the Sunlight touches him?
I see what you mean! Earlier you were talking about the cruelty to animals. although they seem to have lots of space, these polar bears have all got black eyes!
does the Red Panda not know that it's a grandiose cat?
A New Hobby! Monk Spotting! Using the Observers Book of Clerics you could travel the world twitching for Monks, Nuns, Rabbis, Vicars and Popes etcetera, etcetera, so on and so forth!
turtles for tea Glad you are having a great time - all looks fabulous. Good job you are both vegetarians given that the Chinese, as the saying goes 'eat anything that turms its back to the sun'. Those cornish pasties were not what they appeared to be - one turtle or two with those chips? Dad is sending the blogs on to us (Mum over here on hols at the mo). Glad it is warming up over there - won't tell you how gloriously warm and sunny it is here - oops just did.
Enjoy your travels
Bind and Joan
Too gorgeous to be real! Those pandas are unbelievably gorgeous. It's fantastic how they appear to be posing for the camera. They're great pictures!
I'm really pleased to get a snippet of your experiences and will continue to follow with interest (and envy!).
Take good care of each other.
Kathy, Bob and Jake x
Jealous? Me? Not a bit! Fantastic photos. Have you and Mark lost weight? Both of you looking very trim. Need some good homecooking!!!
Why would you think we would be envious of the weather you are enjoying. We are freezing, shaking with cold and slipping on black ice. The boiler is making strange noises, the poodle is grey and murky, the car is filthy (nothing new there then), and the garden looks like a slum area. Cant wait for our Spring!
But you two carry on enjoying yourself. Dont worry about us!
Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
im cold! im so jealous (again!). u kno how much i hate being cold, n here we r stuk in snowy, rainy manchester, whilst u enjoy the sun. Ur wandering around wivout a coat, n im sat here in 4 layers! enjoy it whilst u can! appreciate every ray of sunlight u get........
Serenity Just reading of your experience makes me feel like sitting back and relaxing. It is good to know that in the middle of all the possible hustle and bustle of traveling, you have both managed to find some time to just sit back, relax and feel content without having to consider plans or problems, if only for a little while. Here is me hoping you find more time for such moments. (not that traveling is full of stress, but uncomplicated moments are to be sought out and savoured when ever possible).
Turtles Oh wow, turtles and frogs all in one pond. Excellent. Looks great.
I forwarded it to your Dad Mark and he says the same. Keep having a lovely time. We look forward to the great blogs Ceri. Ever thought of being a travel writer. Snowed here again last night but nothing much. Trouble with Britain is it comes to a standstill with one flake of snow. Stel x
