Nice... The area near Mt Fuji looks very beautiful (i seem to be saying that a lot), also you write a very engaging blog. Hope to hear from you soon. if not here from you when you reach the land of the free :)
Hilarious Very funny Ceri. I remember the panic attack in Boggart when you were "attacked" by ducks! Is it all animals and birds beginning with the letter D?
The place looked beautiful and well worth a visit. Thanks for the pics, especially the evil deer. Gonna have that one blown up. Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
i didnt kno deer were that evil! i wish i was spending my birthday abroad...make sure u have fun in tokyo, and eat some cake on my behalf too. have a happy birthday!
yay you went I'm really glad you went to Nara :-) Looks like you had fun, and really wish I'd been there to see it with you!
You're gonna love Tokyo (I hope) and Mark certainly will :-)
Happy Birthday now, because I guess you're within 24hrs of your birthday (it's still the 27th here)
Oh Deer! Excuse me while I wipe my eyes - I struggled to read to the end without mopping up tears of laughter - the image of Mark being bitten by a deer! I really wish I had been there - even made John forget his gout for a few minutes and have a good laugh. The fox graves do look a bit spooky - and of course thank you for the picture of the House of Wood!! - is that just for me? Ceri - Happy Birthday - may not have chance to write tomorrow! Whats a Torii tunnel - why and whats it made of? Love Mumxxxx
So many going to Japan You've now started so many people wanting to go to Japan. John has spent time in Japan and has decided he wants to go there for his next holiday - William also reminisced about his time living there!-it sounds so peaceful and also adventurous - I would also like to visit - just to see / hear the nightingale floor. Oh Ceri - how many days now? You still haven't told me what you want for your birthday - still got at least another month before I see you to think about it. Let me know - we'll either get something in LA or for you when you get back! Keep the commentary coming - everyone thinks what a brill writer you are! Mum xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Fantastic It's sad to know that Japan is not vegitarian friendly, unless they consider fish veggie? it all looks amazing over there, i think my next holiday abroad may have to be Japan, it just really appeals to me. I hope the rain stops or lessens soon and you can enjoy a dry beautiful journey.
wow!!!! omg....remember that book we read? across the nightinagle floor!
so cool dat u get to see a real nightingale floor. wish i was ther. sounds so amazing.
lovely photos Hi! You're getting some great pics!
For food, if you find your way to Kyoto University, near the clock tower there there is a restaurant - it does some vegetarian dishes including cheese and brocoli pasta, loads of salads, and so on. It isn't expensive.
Wow .....again Hi to you both. What a fantastic place. I am so happy you are enjoying this trip of a lifetime. Dont worry about the lack of veggie food. You will more than make up for it in USA.
Ceri, I want to ring you on your birthday. Please let me know the phone no and room no in plenty of time.
Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
HHHHHHOOOOOWWWWWWW CCCCCCCCCCUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those pandas are soooooooooooooooo cute! Please can you hide one in your bag and bring it home for me? Actually bring two because my friend loves pandas!
Thank you for the postcard/birthday card I had a great birthday and I got lots of cool stuff! Oh and also I got my ears pierced! I got little red ones and they gave me a free pair of blue earrings aswell!
Love you Ceri

Giants in fairy land It must be the first time you have felt too tall since you were 13. It all looks very magical and surreal. A little like Lilliput.
Hope you bought some new socks both of you!
Keep the pics and commentary coming. Really look forward to them. Love mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Where are all the Monks? How small is that room?
The place seems to have a truly spiritual look about it, I'm very taken by these pictures and envy your peace.
Is the Dark Lord suffering from Game Shop withdrawl?
Local Culture I can say that without a shadow of a doubt I WISH I WAS THERE, you seem to have hit on the perfect experience in kyoto, with all the traditional things it usually cost a fortune to make happen. You are at this moment living the experience i would love to have, i am very envious. Whilst in kyoto don't take your finger off of that camera button :).
Samurai Dark Lord. You let him hold a Samurai Sword thingy!!!?! Sheesh Ceri, I always thought you were a sensible and responsible young woman! Does he still have his arms? Where did you bury the American Tourist?
Those Cherry Blosoms etcetera are fabulosly beautiful, and intricately patterned close up... (here comes the cheesey Uncle Dinx compliment)... but you out shine 'em Cez!
Amazing That looks amazing, not only the huge variety of weird and wonderful sea creatures, but the sheer size of the attractions and the tanks that they are contained in. It must have been fascinating a great day out. I will insist on viewing all materials relating to this particular adventure.
Keep the updates coming. Az
Ice Cream What a shame I can't just reach out and grab the Ice Cream off Mark - he's probably glad - but I would love to have had a taste of those - sounds as though you have some weird and wonderful flavours there - make a lits - we will have to try and create some back here.
Looks really lovely there - other than the Pandas - some of the most beautiful pictures.
Wish I was with you!!
Hugs Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
looks like you've found a lovely area I hope you enjoy Kyoto. Do get to Nara if possible for the day! Did you enjoy the ice cream? I never took to the red bean paste thing :-)
I have rats! :-)
I am also a disorganised idiot of the first magnitude - I managed to miss my first sign-on appointment yesterday at the jobcentre. Any idea what they'll do? Am going to be worrying about it all weekend :-(
Osaka Looking at the piccies u both seem a 100% recovered. Just try and keep him out of the Manga shops Ceri - he'll just complain when he gets back to the UK - why aren't the shops here like Japan!! I could have got this in Japan - I should have done!! Don't let him get any ideas about buying swords to bring home either - bit of a problem through customs!!
Love to you both - keep up the commentary - we all love it at work - it brightens our day!!
Beautiful I have to say that bar non these are the most picturesque and serene images so far, the blossoms look beautiful and the gardens image makes me want to climb into the picture and relax in the shruberry. It is probably a good thing that you had only Mark in the yu-gi-oh shop, one kid in a candy store is bad, two would have been impossible to deal with :).
Hope you have more luck with your culinary options.
P.S i will not forget your birthday after all mine is three days before yours.
