I have lived in close proximity to parks before so what makes the Domain so different for me. I was able to find my spot in somewhere I never really thought I would be! One of the things I was looking forward to before coming to NZ was being able to sit back relax and enjoy catching up on my reading. First I had to find the local library when I arrived as I realised that books in New Zealand are terribly expensive. Thankfully the city libraries have a pretty decent collection and they have been keeping me busy. I discovered a leisurely 10 minute walk along a wooded path bypassing the main road from my house to the Domain I guess adding somewhat to the atmosphere of it all. OK so I have been married for only a few months now but I have been with my husband for 10 years before that. Unfortunately I have to admit that I am yet to learn Italian. I have done the usual beginner courses but admittedly my lack of use of the language have meant that they have not been very useful. Additionally trying to teach myself was a complete failure. The Viaduct had been mentioned as a place to check out so it seemed a good enough place to start. It's only around a 20 minute walk to get there from Parnell and it was very pleasing as we walked along to finally be able to take our sweaters off even if it was a bit windy. We walked along Quay ... read more

So this is probably a late point to start talking about my time in New Zealand as I have already been here for a while. I will probably have to write like two or three blogs a day just to catch up with what I have been doing! But for me this is an experience of a lifetime and I guess I just could not believe that I have not been recording it. My husband had a year sabbatical leave and when he told me at first the NZ was an option well I could not really believe it and that we would actually make it here! It took a week to get our visas through and the excitement bubbled over that of course I had to immediately announce it on facebook (yes one of my ... read more
