Victoria is the city was Kyle went to University at UVic. It is also my middle name and Kyle always says it is a beautiful city just like my name and me. We woke up early and had some carbs for breakfast (bagels), packed our bags very lightly and headed out on our bikes to the bus stop that would take us to the ferry port. Kyle Kyle´s dad lives in Vancouver and the bus terminal is in Richmond (a part of town that is almost at sea level and will probably sink if there is an earthquake it is also were most of ... read more

Monday July 8 We decided to take it a slow and calming day. Slept in, had breakfast and chilled around the house backyard, reading, swimming in the pool and relaxing. Kyle did a bunch of errands, he cleaned the basement of his old stuff and did some closet shopping to take new-old clothes to China and he also went to the bank. We had a light dinner and watch a movie at home and crashed for the night. Tuesday July 9 A little information about The Grind in Grouse Mountain, Vancouver. Grouse Grind Region: The North Shore. Sunday July 7th Cycling to Stanley Park We slept in and woke up around 11 o clock, had some bagels and got our bikes to go downtown and ride along the seaside of Stanley Park. It would be my first time riding a bike in downtown Vancouver so we put on our biking gear, filled our water camel bags and headed out. We rode through a residential neighborhood mostly uphill but not too much, although I am very slow on hills so Kyle had to wait for me. Finally we reached an intersection where we cross to head to Stanley Park. Riding bikes in Vancouver is so easy because everybody bikes and so vehicle drivers are used to bikers and know how to behave on the streets and give bikers priority. There are trails for bikes ... read more

July 6th Brunch, BBQ and pool with the family Saturday was Kyle´s dad´s birthday. We woke took a quick shower and took the car to drive to Surrey to meet Kyle´s mom, the kids, his grandpa, cousin and aunt and uncle. We drove through the main highway and along the suburbs of Vancouver and the views were so calm and beautiful, farms, big lands and mountains on the background. We got directions pretty easy and were the first one to get to the restaurant for brunch. Second his aunt and uncle arrived. They were a funny and enthusiastic couple, his uncle has a witty sense of humor and his aunt is this very sophisticated but at the same time simple woman. Then his cousin and fiancé and the Erin and the kids so we sat down ... read more

Mumbai or Bombay The old capital city and the souvenier shopping stop We arrived to Mumbai around 8 o ´clock in the morning and the bus dropped us off literally on he side of the highway. We got a cab that surprisingly said he would use the meter to take us to Colaba district. It took us a few other taxis that asked for an extremely large amount of money. We decided to stay in Colaba, which is a district in Mumbai where all the British colonial architecture characterizes it. It is also where most of the tourists stay and also where the few budget hostels are located. The taxi dropped us off near a few hostels and immediately an older Indian man greeted us and offered to take us to a hotel. We refused politely ... read more

Asia » India » Rajasthan » Udaipur March 30th 2013

Udailpur Day 1 The sleeper bus ride was pretty smooth. It was my first sleeper bus in India and it was so different then other buses I had taken. It was a double floor bus with seats on the bottom floor and on the top there were beds on the one side there were single beds and on the other double beds. We bought the double beds tickets berths. It was one cool sleeper bus experience. We reached Udaipur at around early morning and the bus dropped us off at a random location. We had to take a taxi to the main hotel area and find a place to stay for one night. We reached the area where the Nukkad hotel was and for our benefit there was a room available and even better they had ... read more

Asia » India » Rajasthan » Jodhpur March 30th 2013

The sleeper train from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur was very smooth and uneventful. I did not sleep much because we were not sure of which was the stop for Jodhpur since the train would continued to Delhi. I read, listened to music and to some meditations to let time pass by. Day 1 The fort Jodhpur The Blue City The train rolled into the station of Jodhpur at around 5 AM and being tired of harassing tuk tuk drivers, hotel managers we decided to take a taxi to the market area where we knew there were a few budget hostels and hotels. The tuk tuk dropped us off at the entrance of the main market. It was still very dark in spite of being almost early morning. The streets were totally empty and silent, but still very ... read more
