Beautiful! Would that the 710 would look this good! I love your blog, Adrienne. Thank you.

Such a great post. Better that it was not very lovely buildings but lovely people, instead of the other way around. Your bar story reminds me of when my mother in law went to a cafe in Italy looking for her two friends. She thought she asked the worker if they saw 'dos Americanos,' but realized her mistake when she got two watered down espressos. Glad you are having a wonderful time with your family. Love to all.

Carnevale!
Glad to hear at least one other Travelblogger was here to enjoy the festivities. We have been here since Feb. 7th and are staying for a month. We had a great time but are kind of looking forward to a few less people everywhere we go (we live in Castello, 3 minutes from San Marco). Anyway, enjoyed your pictures. Check out our blog if you get a chance- Dave and Nanci

Carnevale
Thanks! Will check out your blog. Things are much quieter today--back to la Serenissima! We live in Dorsorduro at Casa Artom, next to the Guggenheim. See you around town.

The editing is sure crazy!
A disclaimer: someone, somewhere thought to translate this into another language (something I couldn't read) and the formatting whacked out! The spelling, punctuation, and everything else has never been the same on this entry. I've given up.

cats and dogs in Venice
Hi! I'd like to mention is that dogs are not allowed inside churches and public monuments therefore if you might be interested in a pet sitter during your visit pls check this site : http://www.asdcanisciolti.it/Cani_Sciolti/Home_English.html I'd only like to point out that is correct the fact that there were far too many cats in Venice, but for what I know their population has been decreased because of a neutering policy during the eighties and beginning of nineties. Cats were over-fed so the were no longer interested in capturing rats. Rat population has always been a problem for Venice (see the many epidemic plaque events al through the Republic).

Now you've lived!
What a great way to go out--living in true Venetian style! I'm not sure your trip would have been complete without getting flooded just a little. C

Acqua Alta
So your adventure has ended??? To be continued back in the states or ?????? I often wonder how my brother-in-law deals with the acqua alta... His store regularly floods during this time of year .. It's got to be terribly frustrating. But as you mentioned... it's pretty much a fact of life for Venetians. Be well... travel happy.

Ya gotta look down
Having dogs all over a city with no grass and all foot traffic traveling along the same basic path, does leave the pedestrian with the problem of wanting to see the city with your eyes traveling over all the beauty yet having to check periodically that one doesn't step in a doggie present. Between the pigeons and the dogs one has to be careful!!

No matter......
We all fell in love with Venezia. So, no matter how many times we all wax romantic or sentimental, and no matter how many times we repeat ourselves, we all feel compelled to do Venice justice by saying the same things! We may have seen the same places, the same canals , every nook and cranny, but we may not have experienced it all the same way. Your boys will remember Venice differently from the way you do. Even if you think you had the same experiences and adventures. Keep writing! Cheers.....

Hi A. I loved reading this piece on Barthelona, particularly b/c it was about a place that E. & I have actually visited. La Ramblas, where we had tapas (such tourists) and shopped. The beaches, where the "chill" lifeguard smoked cigarettes while E. drank beer. Dinners at 10 pm. Ahhh....oh yeah, and then there was the architecture. It makes me excited to read about your adventures with your family there, as I can kind of put it in context, realizing that it's the same place, just a different time. Very cool. I can't believe how many places you guys get to visit. Love reading about all of them. xoxo, .t

Ahhh Paris. I think it is a city that is so much more alive when you are there with a "first timer". Somehow all the colors, tastes, and smells are new again.

A laughs as Ari breathes into a paper bag
I loved reading this and picturing the whole thing. Tell Ariel that I do not get carsick but those narrow winding roads with the tour bus barreling down on our car the size of a Texas sewing machine gave me the heebie-jeebies. I loved hearing your voice oh my Adrienne in your descriptions, not to mention your sense of humor! You look so thin and rested in your pics! So do not waste a moment of your time wishing you were here where we are tired and look 4000 years old. You'll be back soon and we'll be at our many offices. Some online survey just asked my favorite dining spot and I wrote "Dean and Adrienne's living room".

Feeling a little bit in a fog and in need of novelty ( an always condition for me), I found myself in Slovenia with you and your handsome menfolk. Beautiful pictures and charming commentary. Thank you for transporting me.
