Africa » Egypt » Middle Egypt » Asyut March 23rd 2015

We landed in Egypt at 7:05 pm which means we have the whole night to explore all the glorious things of the country. We decided not to get a hotel for this stay, We would just do as much as we can then go back to the hotel. Neither did we have to rent a cab because Evelyn’s sister moved to Egypt about two years ago and lived about 7 minutes away from the airport so she was able to pick us up and let us drop our bags off at her house. Cairo at night was the most beautiful thing that we probably seen all night. The gang and I signed up for a scavenger hunt all over downtown Chicago. We had to find the following: 3 tiny pyramids, a name of the largest river ... read more

South America » Brazil » Rio de Janeiro » Rio de Janeiro » Copacabana January 13th 2015

The minute we arrived to Rio de Janeiro it was 5am in the morning and the first thing we had on our minds was to go take paddle lessons on Copacabana beach. This is one of the main attractions that everybody has to experience when they travel to Rio de Janeiro. So before we decided to go out into the water. We decided we had to take lessons before. The Brazilian instructor had a very heavy accent and it was hard to understand him at times. But throughout the lesson we all had a lot of fun. And then it was time to go out into the water, and lets just say we weren't the best. But the experience was amazing. we did this for half an hour or so and then decided to leave for ... read more

Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome January 13th 2015

Welcome to Italy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlOO-EkdTCM We flew from Barcelona, Spain to the greatest place in the world..Rome! It was a 2 hour flight! We rested a bit and got ready for our next adventure in Italy! When we arrived to the Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport, got our luggage and set out into the streets of Italy. Attempting to practice their Official Language Italian.(the language used federally and established for everyone) Before hand I arranged a Rome airport hotel shuttle, that runs through all central rome Hotels, to pick us up.It was a very interesting form of transportation, it wasn’t like a taxi and it wasn’t a bus either. Our next stop for the night was The Grand Hotel de la Minerve. On our way there we passed through the Roman Forum and the Trevi Fountains. We ... read more

Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona » Barcelona January 10th 2015

We departed from O'hare International Airport in Chicago at 8:00 am and landed in Barcelona, Spain at 8:00 am. It was really weird when our planes tickets read the time. It look like we weren't going anywhere. We made sure that we would try to get as much sleep on this flight as we can. We only had a few hours so we needed to have as much energy possible. We arranged a cab to pick us up at the airport and we were off. Barcelona Spain was beautiful. From the grand towers to the lush environment, we were really starting to feel the Spanish spirit. As we explored the many barrios(an urban area in a Spanish-speaking country) and tried to understand the dialect(local or region characteristic of a language) , something caught our attention. There ... read more

Asia » Indonesia » Flores January 5th 2015

Exploring Flores We were lucky enough to really get off the beaten track on our recent trip to Indonesia. The archipelago has an experience for everyone, from stays in traditional villages with no hot water to luxurious five star hotels - plus hidden-gem boutique hotels that only a handful of people know about (and want to keep that way!).img=http://d1vmp8zzttzftq.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/volcanic-lakes-at-polo-and-nuamuri-koofai-in-kelimutu-flores-indonesia-1600x690.jpg We started in Maumere, on the island of Flores, and worked our way to the more well-known Labuan Bajo. Our first outing, a visit to the illuminous volcanic lakes at Kelimutu, began before dawn. After catching the s... read more
