Asia » Taiwan » Tainan June 1st 2009

Tainan has a bunch of traffic circles. I am on Fucian Rd Sec. 1. Yeah, a lot of the roads have sections, not sure why. That's not so bad, but then a lot of streets will just change names once you go through an intersection. That's not helpful. Mostly that happens at the circles. They have english letters to let you know the street names too, but some are so similar, like Chenggong Rd and Chengrong Rd. Everything seems like a store around here. 7-11 is everywhere and they have slurpees, hot dogs, Budweiser and Busch, coffee too but its more prepackaged iced coffees, the hot stuff isnt out for you to pour yourself, you have to ask for it, apparantly they only just started having hot coffee this year. Hi-Lite and Family Mart are around ... read more

At some point around midnight or so I made it to LAX. I was feeling a little rushed, but not as much as when I left FL. Passed a bunch of airlines... still wondering if Malaysian truly exists... and there they are down the third row. Now I just have to hope that a series of events occurs that results in me boarding this plane. OK, my ticket is confirmed, it's looking pretty good until they say that having a one-way ticket is no good and i have to buy my onward ticket now. No problem, I'll go to Hong Kong... but for some reason I have to go to another airline to buy that ticket. Over at Cathay, they kinda take forever, but the ticket costs what I expect. Hey this should be simple; I ... read more

On the 18th I went to MCO to fly to BUR. My first flight layed over in Phoenix. On the way there I talked to some girl with whom I did an excellent job of avoiding to learn her name. So that was semi-entertaining, but then, as we are getting closer to landing, she visibly is going through some inner turmoil so i ask her if she's OK and she's not so sure and she grabs the white puke bag in front of my seat and i am getting totally excited. I kept trying to talk her and be calming and assuring because she gives the impression that she isn't interested in puking right now. But come on, just do it, it'll be hilarious, but don't get it on me. And then, omg omg omg. So, ... read more

May 10th - May 18th in Florida. What an odd feeling after a year+ to be back in this house i lived in. It's like a living timecapsule. After the weirdness of it, it was a great time at Amigo's, Ross, and movies with Toria, Bull & Bush and darts with Sean, and Winter Park golfing with dad. Here are just some pictures in the timecapsule and then some over the weekend in Lido Key Beach, Sarasota, Florida.... read more

Just want to make a quick little note that we are in Skagway, Alaska now. Our phones are a not working as of now so we either have to resolve something with that company or get another one. Internet is a little limited for now but should be more easily accessible once all the shops are opened. Everyone here is gearing up for the season; making touch-ups on the paint and having all displays well displayed. I wiped the dust off a banister at the hotel today; it's a mess there but it's opening next week so it'll just have to transform. So, just wanted to state that our communications are somewhat down, but we'll get more accessible. When we can use my laptop we'll add the rest of the pictures and maybe make some notes ... read more

On our way to Seattle, Lauren recognized a little town called Kalama, WA, which was half the setting for "one of the best episodes ever of" reality show Split Ends. We got this picture with Susan Summers - she's been on TV! From what I hear she's just like she seemed on the show. Then a stop in state capital Olympia. Just a quick visit but we loved the place. They had a free bus - the Dash. We went into this one store and they were hip. The whole town had an attitude, you could just see it walking past the buildings downtown. And the capitol building was pristine. Seattle - no dine-in Pizza Huts. I'll go ahead and say I liked where we stayed - the Blue Tortoise. It was $40 to share a ... read more
