And as we left the Blue City of Jodhpur a few days ago, we now enter the Pink City of Jaipur - apparently this time it's not to keep cool but many years ago someone believed that pink was the favourite colour of the visiting king of England so they painted the entire city pink - personally I'm not so sure but I'll let you make your own mind up, between this and Jodhpur I think there was just a surplus of the same colour paint myself... It's also quite scary how you get used to the driving over here and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we started playing chicken with trains - go on Harish I'm sure the train will swerve first...?
On our first night there we went to an old Indian cinema which was like being inside a 1970's wedding cake - very bizarre. The movie itself was okay, I admit it would have been better if we could understand Indian of course but nonetheless I think we got the general idea and although we never knew when to shout or clap a good night was had by all...
The next day - guess what, another palace to see, I now know how the English took over India, I'm pretty sure the Indians were too busy building temples and palaces to notice the English walking down the high street... Once again the palace itself is pretty amazing and I certainly wouldn't mind one myself back in the UK - although with the house prices as they are I'm not sure I'll be able to afford the servants quarters never mind anything else - oh well maybe next time...
Another one of Jaipur's attractions when you're not touring round the palace is of course - more shops... However as it was the third shopping day on the row I just couldn't do it anymore, especially as there were a couple of Aussie's in the same hotel who were having a few beers - sorry Suz but your shopping on your own today...
And of course what city would be complete without a fort - not this one obviously, and of course not just a fort but one with the biggest cannon on wheels in the entire world - i certainly wouldn't like to get in the way of that one - ouch... more to follow

News from Oz
Hi Steven Your entries make entertaining reading. By the time you receive this I am sure you will be past the no drinking stage and resuming "normal service". Just a quick note to let you know that Vicky and Gavin's wedding went really well. No last minute hitches and even the weather was kind on the day despite the forecast indicating showers. Thankfully the weather was great. Not too hot. Not sure if you heard that Queensland suffered a cyclone? This caused the newlyweds to stay an extra night on the Gold Coast instead of travelling north to the rain forest for the second part of their honeymoon. Luckily they were not in any of the areas affected. They arrive home late tomorrow so will catch up with all their news then. I believe they kept themselves busy at the Gold Coast so welcomed having a relaxing time at the rain forest. Relatives have all returned home now and are already planning to return in a couple of years time. They now know why we emigrated. It was great to have them here even for such a short time. Take care. Margaret
